“If my mother dies… what will happen to me?” Soso cries and begs to save the most precious person in the world to him. She adopted him as a baby – raising a child who was not her own, and who grew up to become a deeply loving son. He adores his mother.

After a brain stroke, 88-year-old Margo has been bedridden for a month.

She tries to lift herself up in bed, but she has no strength.  Her son Soso is constantly by her side – he does not leave her for a single moment.

Soso, 39 years old: “I can’t even go out to buy bread. If my mother is left alone, she may try to get up and fall, and suffer a serious injury…”

Soso has no one in the world except his mother. No brothers. No sisters. No wife. No children.

Once, he was an unwanted child from an orphanage. But Margo could not pass by a child in need. She is his adoptive mother. But can love ever be “adoptive”?

Soso was just a tiny child when Margo took him in.

She raised him alone, working as an accountant, denying herself everything, saving every coin – just so her boy would have enough to eat, clothes to wear, and a happy life.

Soso, 39 years old: “I love her as if she were my own mother. She is my whole world.”

And today, that world is in danger of collapsing.

Soso himself also needs doctors and medication. He has undergone gallbladder surgery. But he has long stopped thinking about himself – when your mother is fighting for her life, your own pain no longer matters.

They live on Margo’s pension alone.
