Whether this beautiful Georgian family will survive during this difficult time for all mankind, or simply die from hunger, depends only on our kindness and God’s mercy, friends! Indeed, the mutual support of the Georgian people in blood and leaving them to their fate, our conscience simply will not allow us.
“We never lived richly, but how could I think that my boys would go hungry,” she sobs. “I always wanted a lot of children, I thought: they would grow up and help each other, and now, we are in complete obscurity, no work, no money, no food, and God alone knows when and how it will all end. I hope for the best, but I still need to live up to this, and my children are starving here and now. Though you go outside, you can beg for alms, but you cannot do this, quarantine! ”
In the old, gloomy building of the former military hospital, which is to be demolished, there are many socially vulnerable families. Including Mac, with his beloved spouse, Zura and four wonderful sons: David – 11 years old, George – 7 years old, Zura – 4 years and Nikoloz – 1 year and 8 months. Soon, a new member of the family will be born, the baby, which everyone is looking forward to. But in order for her to be born, does mom need to eat anything? And all her thoughts are occupied with how to feed her little sons … She herself doesn’t remember what she ate and when … And it’s better not to see friends, in what conditions they live, cracked walls, a failed floor, blowing from all cracks … “in windy weather, we can’t even heat the stove, ”says Maka. They live as if on the street and are glad that there is at least a roof over their heads. We talked with a poor woman:
– What is the biggest problem your family currently has?
Maca: I’m in a panic. I have 4 children and I’m waiting for the fifth baby. There was always not enough money, but now, when the husband was unemployed due to quarantine, we were on the verge of death, the children were starving. We were suspended social benefits, they said that for verification purposes. What to check?
The ceiling in the building where we settled is about to collapse on our heads.
– Let me ask and inquire about the history of your family.
Maka: Zura and I met by chance. It seemed to me then that God sent him. After all, my first husband left me, and I lived modestly, with my son, with my parents. I didn’t even dream of marriage.
First, we called up with Zur “how are you.” I was even afraid to meet.
And one fine day – I believe that fate – we realized that we were just made for each other: two loneliness … And so they began to live together. Zura is so wonderful! He is raising my eldest son, David, as a native, and now we already have three common sons, and soon there will be a daughter. My first marriage failed, I became a victim of domestic violence … How cruelly he beat me …! For what? And I don’t want to remember … (burst into tears).
It really hurts me to remember this, and everything was somehow forgotten, fate rewarded me for my suffering, Zura is a wonderful, caring husband and father.
– And nobody helps you? Parents or relatives?
Maca: Our relatives themselves are poor, live in a village, it is very difficult for them. Rather, they themselves need our help. There is no money, no work, no food.
– Have you ever thought that such a disaster could happen to them? How did you imagine your future?
Maca: I always knew that I would have many children, because it’s wonderful when there are many brothers and sisters, I educate them so that my children always support each other.
Together with Zura, I realized my dream, albeit partially. We could not even think that everything would turn out that way and our boys would starve.
Zura and I are both from poor families. But to be rich does not mean to be happy. We love and support each other.
– Have you turned to someone for help? To local authorities for example?
Maca: Yes, I did. Once they helped us with products, but then they refused, I applied twice.
Last year, my boys ended up in a hospital with bronchitis and pneumonia. We needed medicines worth about 400 lari, and we were financed, I am so grateful, for us it’s just a lot of money.
“What do you believe in?” What do you see salvation? Do you believe in God?
Mac: We are Orthodox Christians, unfortunately, I can’t always go to the temple, but I have icons at home, I light candles and pray. (Here … With pride, Maka shows her “treasures” and is baptized several times with tears in her eyes) And the eldest son, David, is already quite an adult, he asks himself and goes to church nearby. I believe that everything in our life happens according to the will of the Almighty.
Always, when it seemed to me that there was no way out, help suddenly came, now you have come, the Lord bless you.
– Do you believe in the kindness of strangers?
Maca: All our neighbors are socially vulnerable, it is equally difficult for us, but we always help each other. We share bread, everything that is possible.
Thanks to the neighbors, they sympathize with me, regret and try to share products, although it is very difficult for them themselves.

– Tell us about the children. Do your children go to school, kindergarten?
Maka: David is in fifth grade. Likes dancing. Previously, I somehow cut out the amount from the social allowance and took him to dance, but now there is no way.
Boys really want to go swimming, but unfortunately, I do not have such funds.
Zura goes to kindergarten, he loves to draw and play with cars.
– And what do you feed the children?
Maca: Usually I cook soups and cereals, as soon as I get benefits, I try to buy them meat, but you yourself rarely understand this possibility. She baked cookies at home, we never have money left for sweets. Simple homemade cookies, a holiday for my children.
“Mac, how did you end up in this building?”
Maca: There was a military hospital in this abandoned building, back in Soviet times. Now he was occupied by socially vulnerable families left without a roof over their heads. My father settled here before we took one room for us.
We used to rent an apartment, but it was beyond our means. It’s already two years since we moved here. They conducted water on their own, but they still haven’t been able to conduct gas, they cooked it on a small cylinder, and now it has broken. There are only 30 square meters, and there is no furniture, everything that you see is donated by good people, old and long unsuitable.
– And now I’ll talk with the children. David, can I talk to you? How are you? How do you study?
David (11 years old): I’m fine, and you? I want to go to school, so bored at home. If only the Internet was … I love school, especially history lessons. So interesting … And the teacher, just super!
        – Are you helping mom?
David (11 years old): Of course, our sister is in her tummy, I try as best I can, I clean the room and look for Nikoloz. He’s quite small, bye.
      – What is your favorite toy?
David (11 years old): I’m already an adult, what kind of toys? Yes and no we have them. There is very little that is, the kids have already broken … I’m playing with my brothers, our TV is old and poorly shown, and we love to watch cartoons.
      – Who do you dream of being?
David (11 years old): Do you know what kind of history teacher we have? The best! When I grow up, I will also be a history teacher.
George (7 years): And when I grow up, I will become a builder and I will definitely build us a big beautiful house.
-What fairy tales and who tells you before bed? Who is your favorite hero?
George (7 years): I really like fairy tales. Any! My mom says so funny, about an uncle with a big club. “Comble” heard. He is so smart and strong, and he defeated the huge “maiden”, not with a club, but with his mind.
        – What is your favorite toy?
George (7 years): I really love all kinds of cars, designers … But I gave everything to Nick and Zure. They are small … But I am an adult! That’s just left this red typewriter for myself … Dad gave it to me for my birthday, and I put it under my pillow.
“David, what do you lack to be happy?”
David (11 years old): I want a bike, and to quarantine, I want to communicate with classmates, I miss them so much. But there’s nothing to go to school!
George (7 years): And I really want a bike.
Zura (4 years): Aunt bring me a typewriter! Will you bring? Big and beautiful. I saw a boy on the street.
         – We’ll definitely bring it, baby. But what does little Nikoloz want?
Nikoloz (1.8 year): Shoko – and spread his tiny fingers.
Maca: That means chocolate on his tongue, a lot of chocolate, shows with his fingers.
David (11 years old): (judiciously) Nikoloz likes pistols more, and Zure is a typewriter, but in general, we all love to watch cartoons.
          – What do you want to wish to the children of Georgia?
David (11 years old): I wish that they did not need anything so that they had the opportunity to study normally. And of course, that their parents were healthy and cheerful … Mom cries so often … I wish their mothers never cried!
– What is your family’s income? What is he enough for?
Mac: I haven’t received the allowance for four months already, they are apparently checking whether we will survive or not. The amount was 580 GEL. Prices are rising, children need food, school supplies, medicines. I don’t say anything about clothes and shoes. It’s cold here, the children are constantly sick, and I don’t know what to wear on them. We are heated by a wood-burning stove, but when the wind is there, it is impossible to heat it.
Zura has always worked tirelessly, even now trying to make money by cab, but you yourself know what the situation is in the whole world. He can barely make money on bread.
– What is your biggest dream? What, in your opinion, do you need in the house first of all?
Maca: We have nothing, you yourself see. But at the moment, most of all I need a refrigerator. I hope that I will receive benefits at the end of the month, I will buy at least some dairy products for children, how much can I feed them with pasta. But dairy products need to be stored somewhere.
I dream that my children do not need elementary things. Need food, money for food is not enough. Pampers are really needed, believe? Now I just can’t buy them to Nikoloz.
AT
You yourself see that we have absolutely nothing, no furniture, no appliances, not even a television set, and that one does not show me how to keep four boys in four walls? They so want to learn, but there is no Internet, or even a normal phone.
– Why did you decide to contact us?
Maca: Many of our neighbors visited your foundation with their children and praised you very much. I see how much you help. Now that has become completely unbearable, I wrote to you.
Please do not let my children starve to death!
– Almost all of Georgia will know about your family, when we write about you, would you like to meet friends of the Fund?
Maca: Of course, we will be glad to everyone and thank you for any help.

Friends, as you see, a large family lives in dire need. They need food, diapers, clothes and household appliances! Let’s support them, show mercy, give children a chance to develop normally and have a happy childhood. You can personally visit this family and provide assistance. Children, believe us, will be happy! Call Mack, find out about the needs of the family, cheer and support, say that she is not alone and that we will not leave them in trouble! It is very important!

Friends, the Chernovetsky Charitable Foundation begins an action: to help Maki Sabashvili and her children. As you know, the Fund does not stop with one-time assistance. Without children, the country and the people have no future. Take care of the younger generation! Help them survive! “Write” them to your relatives. And we are sure that the Lord Himself will bless you.
And be sure to CEREAL our post. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It is very important!
God gives us the opportunity to take care of people who are not able to do it themselves. Not all people are the same. And not everyone is kind, as we are with you. Do not pass by someone else’s misfortune! Unhappy people are given to us from above, so that we can prove our faith to the Almighty not in words but in deeds!
Friends, there is one more request, if you know about the misfortune of a neighbor or acquaintance, do a charitable deed, write to us by e-mail: office-fsp@fsp.ge

Friends, read it, please! You will be happy too!
And we…
Thanks to you

“Thanks to you our life has changed! Now our children are happy and our home became warm and cozy, and we got so many friends! Glory to Thee, O Lord!

A real miracle happened to us, so we decided to name our baby in honor of the Mother of God – Mariam! She will always remind us of the miracle which happened to our family thanks to you, dear friends of the Fund!

I am so grateful to each of you! I pray for you and for your children!”

It’s hard to believe, but these cheerful boys, not long ago had to go to bed hungry, cold with a crippling poverty around them. Their mother Maka told us their heartbreaking story 4 month ago in a post “What to feed the baby on?” https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/575-sabashvili/

The world pandemic left the family father Zura without work. Scared of the hopelessness of her situation Maka, who was pregnant with a long-awaited girl, did not know how to keep her 4 sons. The family asked to help them with basic things – food and diapers. And the friends of the Fund made a real miracle – you have demonstrated how generous Georgians are and made those little boys believe in a better future.

(Maka): – You became our guardian angels Thank you and thank God, that he directed me to you! Our life has changed after your visit. Look at the children! They are so happy now! It has been in winter when we were cold with no idea how to pull through the next day. We lived hoping that neighbors would help us with a piece of bread. But thanks to you everything has changed. Children finally ate their fill and Nika now has diapers and other hygienic items. There are so many of them – we had seen such an amount only in a department store. It is incredible! I am lost for words to express how grateful I am!

Special thanks from our family for the refrigerator, heater and furniture! And personally I am grateful for medications for uterine tone, I needed them so much!Because I’m pregnant and any day I can give birth to our long-awaited girl … Do you know what name we chose for her? Mariam – in honor of the Mother of God!

– It’s a wonderful name, Maka! – Can you tell me how your life has changed after our publication?

– I received an incredible number of calls with words of support from the Fund’s friends. Unfortunately, I don’t remember all the names! I was surprised by how many kind people there are! Thanks to every one! Your support gave me strength!

But there were not only calls. Immediately after the publication our status of a socially disadvantaged family was restored and we started to get the allowance. They brought so much groceries that, thanks to this, we saved a substantial amount of money and were able to install plastic windows and doors in the house – it had been cold for the kids – they used to catch cold all the time. When you are awaiting for the fifth baby, it’s important to have a warm house. I am cordially grateful for the Fund’s help! Thanks to the friends of the Fund, our life, our children, and our home have changed! Look, how much light there is! And happiness! Welcome to our home!

We are so glad that now you have new friends, who are ready to support you in the hour of need. What do you remember most? Maybe you remember the names of some people, who helped you?

I remember Maya, who visited us. She brought two full bags of groceries, sweets and diapers for Nikusha. She learned about us after reading the Facebook post. She is so kind! God bless her! I still remember her visit with warmth in my heart!

Oh! I forgot to tell you about the most important thing! Our family was shown on TV! Not once! The journalists of Formula TV channel made a plot about us, and a month later they brought 1,000 GEL and two huge bags of food. And not long ago one more miracle happened! Our family participated in a TV show “Magic Box” at “Objective” channel. Participants of this show are from large socially disadvantaged families. We participated in intellectual contest and thanks to David we won! We got 2500 GEL and with this money we are planning to redecorate our home for the birth of the little one.

Do you see how many things have happened? God heard our prayers and our life became better. Why? All because of you! God will bless all of you, I am sure! Because I pray for you!

– Did the local government somehow react on our post? Did they ask about your conditions and did they help you with anything?

– Local government? No, I don’t remember anything like that … I contacted the local Administration twice and only once they gave us groceries: flour, pasta, rice

– How did you react to the gifts from the Fund? – Tell me about your emotions.

If I only were able to describe it in words! I almost cried when the people from the Fund brought us the appliances which we were not able to afford. Barely holding back tears of joy, I thanked them, and the children ran around the box with the refrigerator wondering what was inside! My heart sank when I saw it. We expected you to help just with food and diapers, but you exceeded our expectations!

What you remembered the most?

– The water heater became a real surprise for us. Now we can wash with hot water and there is no more need to heat the water and carry buckets to the bathroom to wash children. It is so hard doing that when you are pregnant. It’s hard for me to walk, and walking with buckets full of water is unbearable.

– Maybe you have some more issues that our readers can help you with?

– No! I can’t ask you for anything else! You did a lot of things for our family!

Giorgi (7-year-old): – Mommy, and what about the TV? I want to watch cartoons! – Giorgi, Maka’s son interrupted our conversation.

– What did you like most of the Fund’s presents?

Giorgi (7-year-old): – You brought us a thing that makes delicious yogurts from fruits. And mom also makes bread toasts with it in the morning, I have never tasted such things before. I did not know it was so delicious! But I liked the refrigerator most of all! It is sooo huuuge! Ithas enough room for David!

David (11-year-old): – Gio, you should put food into the fridge, not people! (starts laughing). Thank you! My mother dreamed of such a big fridge for a long time!

– What else do you want, guys?

1.Giorgi (7-year-old): – Mommy, may I ask for some sweets and a TV? Please! This is my biggest dream! I even dream about it when I sleep! I am even ready to exchange sweets for a TV. But maybe I can ask for some sweets as well, I love them so much! You put a jawbreaker in your cheek and the you are happy all day long!

I think the friends of the Fund will hear you, dear!

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on FB, or better dial the number of any of our beneficiaries.Call them and you will forget about your problems. Because they are nothing in comparison to the problems of those to whom you opened your good hearts and came to help in the most difficult moments of their life.

Our problems are noting if compared… Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.

Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now… Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, talk to them.

Your kindness is a chance for yourself to be happy in everything!
