0901200270Today, I am the saddest child in all of Georgia!
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
Zura is about to turn nine years old. A child should be the happiest on their birthday, but… what I’m about to tell you will make you cry bitter tears. Zurab is a boy who wishes that out of the 366 days in a year, there was one day that simply didn’t exist. Do you know which one? The day he was born. There is so much drama in that “simple” phrase! Zurab is the son of a large Georgian family that survives month to month on bread and colorless tea.
The boy gazes sadly through rusty bars. Beyond the window lies another world. There, other children are happy and full of life. But outside his window is Zurab’s pale and dreary world, where he feels utterly alone. Yes, it’s ironic that in this world of 8 billion people, this little boy feels completely lonely, rejected, oppressed, and humiliated.
Zurab (8 years old): “This jacket was a gift from my neighbor. It’s brand new. He knew I’d gotten sick and was coughing badly because I didn’t have a warm jacket. I wear it to school, in the yard, and even at home because it’s cold there, too. We don’t have heating, so I can’t take it off, even in my room. Yesterday, before falling asleep, I dreamed that maybe, just maybe, a miracle would happen on my 9th birthday, and I’d get warm clothes as a gift. But… well, who even remembers that today is my birthday? If only, for once, we could have a table full of delicious food at home on my birthday. With my friends gathered around. When the clock struck 12, I’d blow out the candles on a cake and make a wish. We’d set off fireworks and dance a lot.
–What wish would you make?
Zura: I’d wish for clothes and shoes like my classmates at school. I also dream of having a Ronaldo T-shirt. But my biggest dream is a phone. Though that’s so unrealistic, it’s not even worth dreaming about. My mom doesn’t even have enough money for food.
– What would you do if you had a phone?
Zura: I’d watch educational videos on YouTube. I want to learn. I’ll never travel to other countries because we don’t have money, but at least I could learn about their history, cities, and culture on YouTube.
Kind-hearted people, you’ve probably realized just how sad and heavy the little heart of this angel is. His birthday is almost here. Just imagine how much joy we could bring to this kind-eyed boy who has lost all hope for the future. We, Georgians, know how to support those in need and elevate our own souls by making others happy.
