0901200270The bitter tears of 11-year-old Georgian beauty Keti would break anyone’s heart. “Other kids wear nice clothes, and I go to school in the same outfit every day,” she sighed as she met me at the door. And in that sigh, it felt like her little heart might stop at any moment. She dreams of a pretty girl’s bicycle, a phone, and some nice clothes.
Have you ever seen tears so big and bitter on a child’s face? We can and must turn those tears into tears of joy. Anyone with children knows just how different each child is – and how deeply they can touch us.
Keti (11-year-old): “My mom has been bedridden for a year, and we don’t even have money for her medicine… That’s why I don’t let myself dream about anything else.”
– Keti, thanks to the kindness of our friends, your mom will have the medicine she needs. Now go ahead, tell me what you dream of.
Keti: It hurts to go to school wearing the same clothes every day. I dream of having new shoes, a dress, pants, and a white t-shirt – just like the other kids. White is my favorite color.”
And with that, this little angel fell silent, lost in her thoughts. Her dreams live only in her imagination.
Keti: A bike is my biggest dream. I would ride through the fields and pick wildflowers for my mom. I’d also give rides to other kids whose moms are sick like mine – kids who don’t ask for anything either. And a phone… that’s my biggest dream too. I’d take pictures of nature—and it would help me so much with my schoolwork.
Kind-hearted friends, the heart of this bedridden mother will bless you if you help make her poor daughter’s dreams come true. You’re parents too… you know what this means.

Let’s smile, my friends! It’s because of all of you that little Lali is filled with happiness! Her smile is meant just for you!
Keti: “Today is such an amazing day! My mommy is standing on the balcony, not lying in bed anymore! And my bike has arrived! Now I can finally make my dream come true! I wished for my mommy to get better, and to ride my bike to pick flowers for her! Give me my bike, I’ll go! I’ll pick up the most beautiful ones for mommy! Thank you to the kind people – for my mommy and for my bike!
Everyone on the street knows about Keti’s promise, and everyone who sees her riding by knows she’s on her way to pick flowers for her mom. That little bell is a joyful sign! The purple and yellow wildflowers in her bike basket are a symbol of Keti’s happiness!
This is what happiness looks like – Mom and Dad on the balcony, lovingly blessing the friends of the Fund. Dad is speaking loudly, holding back tears; Mom is whispering softly, as much as her strength allows after her illness has retreated. This is happiness: a beautiful summer day, a bouquet of flowers on a bike, and a little girl’s heart overflowing with joy.
There are selfies with her recovered mom and with the roses on her new phone—and friends are calling to congratulate her.
We promise to keep supporting this family! Shorena, a young mother of four, was miraculously saved from severe anorexia and near-certain death. Now, she needs proper nutrition to recover fully. She’s still very weak and sleeps with the help of an oxygen machine. Today, the health of this mother of four is in our hands. Let’s do everything we can, dear friends, to make sure her illness doesn’t return.
