Seven-year-old Demetre has gathered all the world’s sorrow in his beautiful Georgian eyes – his leg suddenly stopped working! He was terribly frightened that he’d be crippled for life… Doctors in Turkey operated on him twice and removed the tumor, which turned out to be benign! It’s not cancer! What a blessing! 
Demetre was diagnosed with a benign bone cyst – an aneurysmal bone cyst – in his left leg, which is slowly destroying the bone from within. Since Georgia doesn’t have a bone tissue bank, the family has to treat him in Turkey. He has already undergone two surgeries there: the cyst was removed, and the bone was prepared for grafting. All the family’s money went toward this treatment.
And Demetre still doesn’t know that his parents don’t have a single tetri left – they’ve borrowed everything they could and sold everything they had. And yet the most critical step lies ahead – a third surgery. But the family doesn’t even have a few lari left. There’s nothing more to borrow or sell.
