This little sweet girl lives with her mother Anastasia and brother Giorgi in an old-fashioned one-room apartment in Rustavi.
Wartime apartment! Kitchen and bathroom with bare walls and mold, a cloudy mirror in the hallway, old windows with cracks. And lunch is not homemade, but one brought from a social canteen.

“What kind of place is this – a social canteen?” – I ask Yanochka. And the child explains: “All the poor people like us gather there. Those, who have no food.”

Mom and dad smiled at me in the morning, and in the evening, they brought me their bodies

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Anastasia hardly smiles. She drooped and does not know how to raise children, provide for them.

White shirt, gray pinafore dress. None of the kids in the class are wearing school uniforms anymore. It is so cold! And Yana comes to school every day wearing this.

“It looks nice,” – she tells her classmates. – “and neat”

– Aren’t you cold?

– No! I’m not cold at all!

But she is cold indeed! Her hands are icy, her body is trembling, and she wants to get to the heater as soon as possible. If only she had sweaters and pants, would she wear this stupid school uniform when it snows?

This little sweet girl lives with her mother Anastasia and brother Giorgi in an old-fashioned one-room apartment in Rustavi.
Wartime apartment! Kitchen and bathroom with bare walls and mold, a cloudy mirror in the hallway, old windows with cracks. And lunch is not homemade, but one brought from a social canteen.

“What kind of place is this – a social canteen?” – I ask Yanochka. And the child explains: “All the poor people like us gather there. Those, who have no food.”

An old muddy mirror with scratches hangs in the hallway

– Anastasia, does anybody help you?

Anastasia: I only have an old aunt who raised me. I lost my parents when I was a child. I became orphan when I was five.

– What happened?

Anastasia: My mother and father died in an accident. I went into hysterics when my aunt started explaining to me what had happened. I didn’t believe it, I screamed, I cried. All together we had breakfast in the morning, we smiled to each other and talked to each other. Then they went to work. And in the evening police came. At first, they told my aunt… I saw everything with my own eyes: how they brought their bodies home, how many people came. Words can’t describe this horror! It follows me all my life.

Then my aunt took me to Bakuriani, where I grew up and graduated from high school. And the apartment in Rustavi was closed for many years.

Yana: Are you talking about grandpa and grandma, mom? About how they died?

Anastasia: Yes, dear.

–  I’m very sorry for you. It’s a real shock to go through such a tragedy. Is it that a flat?

Anastasia: Yes. The apartment was left off-hand. They broke the wooden door and took away all the things. When I came back here with my two kids, we had to start everything from the scratch. There was no light, no gas, no water. There was nothing to sleep on, nothing to sit on. It was terrible. I was about to sit right on the floor and cry.

The apartment still looks uninhabited

My neighbors supported me a lot. They brought us food. They brought us the necessary things: a bed, a mattress, someone gave us an old TV. They are very kind people, they treated us warmly. I was moved to tears that they care so much about us.

Looks like an abandoned hostel or communal apartment

– Why did you come back alone with your children? Was your marriage unhappy?

Anastasia: My husband found another woman and he actually had two families. It was very harsh to endure that – I could not. Now he lives in Lagodekhi with her, with that woman. She is his wife and we left.

– It’s so sad.

Anastasia: It is. I loved Pasha so much. I hoped that he would always protect me. He knew how hard my life was before we got married, he saw my tears. At my aunt’s house, my sister-in-law was impatient to say goodbye to me. Immediately after graduating from school, I got a job as a scullery maid to provide for myself and get rid of reproaches and jokes addressed to me. But I still felt superfluous at that house, I worried and cried a lot. I poured my heart out to Pasha. He was my internet friend and the person who worried about me. He also loved me very much! He told me: “I will take you away from everyone, and we will live well together.”

I was so happy then. He arranged a honeymoon trip for me – he took me to Poti for a week.

– Does he communicate with children, help them?

Anastasia: I didn’t get embittered against him. I can’t hate him. He communicates with them. Sometimes he brings food. But this is episodic help. He has another family – all his thoughts are there now. He is not taking part in our everyday life for a while now. He’s far away. He is not interested in our problems. We live on our own.

Giorgi: “I won’t eat it, it does not taste good at all, don’t lie to me!”

– What is the biggest problem for you right now?

Anastasia: Everything is a problem when you have no money. I can’t start working yet. My children are too little – 4 and 6 years old. They can’t do it at home without me. God knows what they’ll do.

We eat at the social canteen. I can give nothing to my children – clothes, medications, study groups.

Yana: Mommy always says: “We have no means”. And in the store, she says: “Put the candy back… We won’t try anything on.”

– What do you want in the store?

Yana: I want a beautiful dress. Not someone’s but mine. So that they pack it for me and say: “I wish you well to wear it.” I have never had such things, I only wear castoffs. I want toys, an album. I would draw sun, people, grass, flowers, and my brother.

– Would you draw your dad?

Yana: Sure. But on a separate sheet. Because he does not live with us, he lives with another woman.

– Would you draw the canteen too?

Yana: Sure! I know many children who go there. They are also poor, like us. We always say hello to each other, we talk: “Hi, how are you? What are you going to do today?” We found out about you in the canteen – they gave mom your phone number and said: “Here you are, call them and they will help you”. And you have come. (Smiles). I never leave food – I eat everything to the end. And George begins to pick and choose and does not finish eating. Even potatoes with meat! He does not understand at all that we only have rice and buckwheat at home. Is it possible to do such stupidity and leave food? It drives me crazy!

– Maybe he does not like the taste?

Yana: What are you talking about! Everything tastes good to me when I’m hungry. How can one whim? We tell him: “We don’t have a refrigerator at home. Everything spoils immediately. Both soup and porridge. But he does not understand that. (She spreads her hands.) Mommy wrote to those people in… (Tries to recall the word.)

Anastasia: In the Townhall, dear.

Yana: Yes, we wrote them. And they said they would not give us a fridge.

– Anastsia, can I talk to Yanochka a bit more? She is so smart! Yana, who is the boss – you or Giorgi?

Yana: He is the boss for sure. I love him so much, so he is the boss.

– What disappoints you the most?

Yana: That our home is sad and ugly. Look at those old windows. It’s cold to stand here. I don’t like the walls. Everything is ugly here. And my mood spoils because of the school uniform. I wear the same clothes all the time because my mother has no means. And it’s cold inside, you know. I don’t like it when my mom is sad.

In a house with such walls, your mood immediately deteriorates.

– Does you mom get sad often?

Yana: Well, yes. She worries about us.

– Anastasia, does the state support you in any way?

Anastasia: It won’t be true if I say that they save us. Our social allowance is 370 GEL. I pay for utilities and buy some groceries – buckwheat, vermicelli, oats – with that money.

“It’s ugly here too” – Yanochka shows us.

– What does your family need first of all?

Anastasia: I really need clothes for 4- and 6-years old children. Maybe there will be something for me too? Hygiene products, washing powder, shampoo and so on. Foodstuffs. If we had a refrigerator, I would bring some food home from the social canteen.

It is very unsafe to use such heater.

Yana: Giorgi needs wafers and cars.

Giorgi: They don’t give me wafers in the canteen. Do you give any?

– We can give you wafers and cars too.

“Giorgi is the boss because I love him”

– What do you regret the most?

Anastasia: I regret that I had no happy childhood. My aunt did her best for me, she tried to warm me up. But my pain has not gone. I often asked God: ‘”Why did my parents die? Where are they? Do they miss me?” I was offended, I cried, I was angry.

Now I ask God only to prevent my children from living in need so that they always have some lunch. I see that He hears me. My neighbors helped me when we moved here. Many people pitied my children and gave them food. You suddenly appeared in our life. I believe he will not leave me. (Cries)

Friends, Anastasia went through a great tragedy when she was a child, and now she is worried about the bitter childhood of her children. So far, she cannot change anything – neither poor food, nor terrible living conditions. This small family got hung up in poverty, and Anastasia hasn’t the strength to get out from there herself. Time will pass, the children will grow up a little, and Anastasia will become able to go to work.

But now is the time when she needs to hold out, when she needs the care and protection of her friends. They really need food, clothes for children and adults, toys, a refrigerator. Perhaps, after watching our video, you will offer your universal help option. We will be happy and grateful!

You can visit the Tepnadze family in person at: Rustavi, sixteenth microdistrict, building 5, apartment 25.

WE ARE NO LONGER ORPHANS! THANK GOD FOR SO MANY GUARDIAN ANGELS!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN!  HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER  TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Yanochka: “Many kisses for our delicious treats and gifts!  Thank you to the good people!”

“I’ve been an orphan since childhood and I dreamed of getting even a drop of warmth and love, but I received so much from you that now I want to cry with happiness,” says the single mother Anastasia, hugging her two children Yanochka and Gioshka. – And my bunnies received warmth and care too, and completely indulged in joy. They became more cheerful, bold and confident. I explain to the kids that all of Georgia took care of us, and they are happy that we are no longer orphans. This bitter story of hunger, poverty, and betrayal has a happy ending.”

“So much attention, so much warmth. The whole of Georgia took care of us!”

– How are you doing, Nastya? There is no longer any trace of depression in your voice or in your gaze, and that makes me very happy. Did we manage to solve your problems?

Anastasia: I have a lump in my throat, and tears are welling up, but they are tears of joy. You are all so good and kind!  I would never have solved so many household problems in my life. Everything in the house was in disarray and old or spoiled.

Oh, how eagerly I threw away our old sofa and put a new bed instead!   I have a good feeling inside that all these things are for our new life and happiness. Now we have a refrigerator and a washing machine. Life has become much easier.

“This is mom’s new bed, and we threw away the old couch!”

“And my brother and I have a bunk bed!”

Yanochka: “The second floor is mine, Gioschka just got there for show”

“All things are for our new life”

Yanochka: And my teddy bear brings me joy. Meet my sleeping bear. He’s fluffy. I hug him, and it makes me sleep sweetly. Good people gave him to me and told me to grow up to be a good girl, obey my mom, and not upset her.

“Meet my sleeping bear”

Gio: And I have a ‘dining’ penguin! He sits with me when I eat.

Yanochka: Giorgi doesn’t eat well, but with the penguin, he eats much better! And when he gets picky, I can at least put his food in the fridge instead of throwing it away.We got a bunch of toys: dolls, trucks, cars.

“When Gio gets picky and does not eat I put his lunch in the fridge”

– Your haircut suits you so much! Cutie!

Yanochka: And I have new tops, pants, dresses.  I’m all new (laughs).

– Did your friends at school notice your new clothes? What did they say?

Yanochka: At school, my friends and even my teacher say “Yanochka, it suits you very well”, “Wear it in good health”, “You’re very beautiful!”. And once, when I came wearing all new clothes, the whole class was clapping their hands. When I have everything brand new, I shine, my smile reaches my ears, and I have a super mood. And children notice it immediately.

“When I have everything brand new, I shine!”

Anastasia: Gioshka’s group in kindergarten is also very good. Parents gave us a lot of toys. One of the parents bought me a fancy summer dress. I wear it with joy and thank God for so many angels and helpers.

– Nastya, do you remember the names of our readers who visited you personally?

Anastasia: Many of them brought us food and things, but not everyone gave their names. I was happy when my classmate from Bakuriani school, Miranda Abramishvili, responded. Yanochka’s birthday is on April 1, and Miranda gave her a delicious cake. Then my Bakuriani girls brought a tabletop gas stove. Girls, thank you for remembering me and willing to help!  I love you very much!

A gift from former classmates

I want to sincerely thank Tea Grigolia. She helped us a lot with a painful issue – clothing. She sent us a whole taxi of clothes, and I carried them upstairs to our home, while Yanochka and Giosha helped me. There were not enough hands! And she thought of everything, for both the children and me. Cool sweaters, dresses, jackets, even underwear.

Yanochka: Mom, you forgot to mention the aunt with the vacuum cleaner.

Anastasia: Yanochka also remembered who came (smiles). Dear, the aunt with the vacuum cleaner is Marina Asatiani. She also brought us pans and towels.

Yanochka: And be sure to mention uncle Sergo with pastries, gummies, and sweets.

Anastasia: Sergo Murdzhikneli came with four bags of groceries and gave the children a sweet feast. The children liked this attention so much, they became cheerful and playful, and Gio rushed to interact with everyone.

Gio wishes you all the best!

But for me, this is more than just help and attention. For me, it’s a dream – to feel the love that I was deprived of in childhood.

You know how nice it is (suddenly crying) when someone needs you. When someone worries about you. When they comfort and hug you. People have told me: “Anastasia, hope for the best.” “We also lived poorly, in terrible conditions, and then we rose, pulled ourselves up. You can do it too.” Everyone who talked to me gave me hope.

Love you! I pray for you and your kids. May you have plenty in your home and everyone in it be healthy.

Yanochka: Will you pass on something to the readers from the little ones too – from me and Gio?

– Of course!  What do you want me to pass on?

Yanochka: Many air kisses!

Gio: All the best to you!

– Nastya, maybe the authorities also helped you during or after the project – the city hall or district administration?

Gio: They gave us Easter cakes in the canteen.

Yanochka: Gio, that’s old news. They already know about the canteen. They’re asking about new news.

Anastasia: There’s nothing new from the authorities.

– What help do you still need, Nastya?

Anastasia: I don’t hesitate to ask the Fund for help because people have embraced us with all their hearts. And I can simply say what bothers us.

We have old windows with wooden frames and glass. During the wind, it’s very cold in the house, and during the rain, water leaks into the house. The kitchen sink is leaking, I can’t figure out which hoses are broken. That’s what worries me, so as not to flood my neighbors. If it is possible to fix this, I would sigh with relief, but it’s God’s will. Thank you very much for everything!

Anastasia was modest and didn’t mention other problems: lack of food, a broken gas heater.   But we know that you see more than what lies on the surface. And you can guess about the many sorrows of a single mother of two.
