The only bright memory in the life of 54-year-old Gohar is how her grandmother bought her candy 50 years ago! That’s it! Her heart is a graveyard of unfulfilled dreams and shattered hopes. She was two years old when her father left the family. He never saw his daughter again. But Gohar saw from afar how he hugged and kissed his other children.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN!
HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“Even dogs don’t live in such ruins.”

She and her mother lived in a condemned house. There was no one to fix it because mother and daughter could barely make ends meet. Mom fell ill from worries, and little Gohar started looking after her. She started working from the 5th grade. She used to go to the marketplace after school to sweep or clean and brought the earned pennies to her mother for bread. In the summer, she worked all day in the workshop, where she wrapped ice cream. Thousands of ice creams passed through her hands, but she could not afford even to buy one. She saved this money, knowing that they would need it in the winter so that her mother would not freeze.

“It is simply impossible to put things in order in this house. When wind blows everything falls on the floor!

Gohar: Look how I live now. I can’t recall my childhood without crying. I always went to school on foot, although it was far from home. Both in the cold and in the rain. I didn’t have a coat, but I told everyone that I wasn’t cold. But I went blue of cold, with wet feet. I wonder how I survived…
Did you have anyone to take care of you?
Gohar: I had a grandmother, she indulged me. She brought me candy once a month. But she died when I was five years old.

“My father left, my grandmother died, my mother died, and I was left completely alone”

– How did you cope? Did not your mother have a pension?
Gohar: She has not reached retirement age. As a child, I forced them to give her a pension. You cannot imagine, how many humiliations I endured in these clinics – but I still made them assign her a pension. We were both so happy, we thought we would hold out for another month and then get a pension. We made plans about what we would buy, how we would save money. Mom wanted bread and butter, and I dreamed of sausages. And the day before the first pension, my mother died … This is my fate.
– And you were left alone?
Gohar: Alone! Completely alone! While my mother was alive, we slept together, warmed each other. And now I don’t even have that warmth left.
– Oh my God, it hurts to hear that. I imagine what you’ve been through. Were you married?
Gohar: No. Mom didn’t want me to get married, she said: “I’ve suffered a lot, I don’t want you to get hurt.” Well, I didn’t really want to, either. For me, starting a family is falling in love with someone, and you must get to know him well before you fall in love. But how could I get to know anyone when I worked all the time or was with my mother?

“I have nothing. Everything was spoiled by rain and cold. I actually, live in a cave”

– Well, and what happened then?
Gohar: Then I started learning. I learned how to sew and type on a typewriter, but I was never able to work in my specialty. Then my health deteriorated – in such a house health would have deteriorated for sure. Look around, see where I live?! Is this a house? It’s not even ruins – it’s just a dump!
– How did you find yourself here?
Gohar: This is my home. I was born here, I lived here with my mother, my mother died here… When it became unbearable for me to stay here, my friends sheltered me, but it was very hard. It’s embarrassing to disturb people and be under surveillance all the time. Then I moved to a rented apartment. I worked as a saleswoman in the marketplace. But few years ago, my health started to get worse. It is hard for me to walk and stand on my feet for a long time, and I could no longer work. I had not money to pay rent, so I moved back to my home.

“As they say, your own stale bread is better than someone else’s khachapuri”

– But there is not a single whole wall here! At first glance, it is impossible to say that someone lives here!
Gohar: What can I do? My allowance is 60 lari per month. What can you buy with 2 lari per day? Just bread? So, I buy bread. It’s good that I go to a social canteen. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be alive a long time ago. And I’m still young, I don’t want to die.
– You walk with a stick. You probably need treatment.
Gohar: Yes, I have a bunch of sores. My back hurts, my joints can’t hold me, my nose bleeds all the time. I went to the doctor – they prescribed a bunch of drugs, but I don’t have money for them. Should I buy bread or medications for 60 lari?

“Making each step is hard for me”

– How can we help you? What will make your life easier?
Gohar: I don’t even know. What can I ask for? To repair my home? How to repair it? Well, maybe it’s possible. I don’t know if I can survive until winter, but, you know, a person is an optimist. No matter how bad his life is, he always clings to life. I am very much afraid of winter. I ask for firewood so as not to freeze, because here I have no gas, no light, no water. I live like a dog. I also need food, medications, and a bed. That’s it, I need nothing else.
***
Dear friends! Saying that Gohar is in need is saying nothing! There is so much pain behind her cheerful voice and optimism, that it cannot be expressed in words. That’s why she addressed us. She hopes that we will not leave her. She only needs firewood, a bed and food. She does not ask for anything else. She does not need anything else. Because she was left completely alone in this world with her sores and memories.
Maybe there are builders, companies or craftsmen among our readers who will advise us how to put Gohar’s house in order so that she can live there without fear of freezing.
She will be happy indeed if you just call her and talk to her, if you just cheer her up with a kind word. She will be immensely happy if you visit her!
If anyone is willing to visit and help her in person, here is her address: Dedoplistskaro, 3 Bagrationi Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save her from imminent death.
