For 18 years, a mother has been feeding her sick son with her own hands. Luka has been intellectually disabled since birth, and he cannot talk – he only makes some sounds. As if the suffering from the illness of one child wasn’t enough, fate dealt another cruel blow to this unfortunate mother – her 5-year-old daughter, Mariam, was diagnosed with an intellectual disability too. Mariam also struggles to talk. This mother, deprived by life, does not have the money to take her children to a doctor. The mother suffers, the children suffer.

Etuna is over the moon with joy! We delayed our departure from Agara just to soak in her boundless happiness. Since birth, Luka’s right leg has been 13 centimeters shorter than his left! As he grew older, the deformity in his leg caused unbearable pain, making life almost impossible! At times, he even dreams of death. ‘Doctors warned that without surgery soon, I won’t be able to leave my bed for the rest of my days.’

Can you imagine, Lord, that just recently, after the child died in front of his mother’s eyes countless times, someone among the officials bothered to send the test results of 6-year-old Grigol, suffering from terrible epilepsy seizures, to Germany!

The hands of the Lord won’t let Mirian depart our world completely: he wavers between life and death, as his sorrowful mother sheds tears. What anguish! Yet, none of the doctors in Georgia, unfortunately, can answer the main question, a dilemma increasingly faced in the foundation’s practice: to live or leave this world for the child? Why did the kidneys fail in this once-beautiful, perfectly healthy boy? Right now, the little one is on dialysis. It’s such an expensive, complex, and painful procedure, which temporarily sustains Mirian’s life! But who can say how many days or months this “temporary” will last? Certainly not in Georgia! Mirian’s mother knows only one thing: if dialysis isn’t done every day, his kidneys will fail, and Mirian will die.
