Lazare: I don’t remember what I ate yesterday… Mom brings food from the free kitchen, but it’s not enough for everyone. There are four children in our family. Whoever gets to it first, eats. I didn’t get any because I was playing outside. So I stayed hungry. God forbid anyone should have to look into their own children’s hungry eyes every day and not be able to feed them. A tragedy that will be remembered for centuries. It all began many years ago, on a snowy winter day, when a lonely, widowed old woman in the village of Chognari was visited by her only son from Kaliningrad (where he was serving in the army). Her son got married there. Grandmother Tamila welcomed her daughter-in-law as her own daughter. But the most important part is yet to come. When Grandma Tamila saw her son holding a one-year-old boy with big eyes, she immediately knew it was her grandson, and she almost lost her mind with happiness. But her joy turned out to be premature. The boy was underdeveloped, he could not walk.

A young and tight-knit family. They’ve blessed Georgia with so many beautiful and healthy children, and then such a tragedy struck… Their home was destroyed by a landslide, and they found shelter wherever they could.
