When he was just a month and a half old, he had heart surgery. However, it wasn’t enough. The child’s condition is still critical, and according to doctors, he may need a second, more complex surgery, which requires further tests. The poor single mother doesn’t have the money to take them to the doctor. What I’m about to tell you, dear readers, is truly horrifying, and it is very hard for me to write these words, but you need to know this.  The twin brothers have only one teat, and when they both cry at the same time, their mother has to take turns giving it to them. God, just the thought of this is enough to drive someone mad.

Mariam’s scoliosis is pressing harder and harder on her lungs each day – sometimes completely cutting off her oxygen supply. The pain she endures is unbearable. She can’t sleep, she can’t stand up, she can’t even turn over in bed. 

Her ribcage is becoming more deformed with each passing day, and no painkillers can ease her suffering anymore. Her parents are praying on their knees for just one thing: to get her abroad for the surgery that could save her life. But where can a nearly destitute family find such a huge amount of money? If we waste any time, it will be too late. 

Lika, mother (37 years old): “I’ve been carrying my daughter in my arms for 18 years, and I will carry her for as long as I live… but I’m running out of strength.

She is 18 now – the best years of a girl’s life. Sometimes dark thoughts creep into my mind, making me wonder if God has forgotten some of us. But I immediately pray, because I know thinking that way is a terrible sin. I believe that in moments like these, God gives us all a chance – to defeat the devil through kindness and compassion!

Mariam was born with microcephaly—her skull developed abnormally, leaving no room for her brain to grow. 

Mariam has a severe form of cerebral palsy. She’s eight years old, and for eight years, the family has suffered alongside her. She doesn’t talk, can’t walk, and is confined to a wheelchair. Medea: “Since birth, she hasn’t been able to see or hear. She cried constantly, day and night. We’ve raised her through suffering.  Many people advised us to abandon the sick child, but we never even considered doing so. As long as my husband and I are alive, we will be by our daughter’s side.” Mariam has such severe convulsions that her mother fears she might break her bones. Can you imagine the pain and suffering this little girl endures? Not every adult could bear it!

During his frequent seizures, my little boy’s muscles tighten like a stretched string. His cries sound like a wounded bird in unbearable pain – so loud that even the neighbors hear them. Then, in despair, his mother cries too. And if you witness this unbearable anguish from the outside, you might faint from the sheer pain of it! Yoseb was born with cerebral palsy. He cannot talk, cannot walk, and cannot even turn over by himself.  He suffers from excruciating pain. The only thing that can ease his suffering is hydrotherapy in Batumi. The water relaxes his constantly tense muscles and relieves his pain. But his mother doesn’t even have a few lari for a taxi to take her beloved child 50 km to Batumi! This family has no one to turn to except us, friends! A young mother is fighting for her son’s life alone. She divorced her husband.

Anna (mom): And now I have two seriously ill children in my arms and a life full of suffering! Because I feel everything that my children feel! Every mother in the world has such a connection with their children. “Poor Nikoloz was oprated on his legs three times. And according to the doctors, he won’t survive a fourth surgery! They advise against it… But who knows? Maybe the friends of the Fund have surgeons who will give another advice?”. For 31-year-old Anna, every day begins with a battle. Her hands tirelessly toil, she does everything with love and utmost effort! But in the silence of the night, when her children fall asleep and the world stands still, her soul trembles with pain. “If it weren’t for my husband, I would have collapsed myself. The children especially need affection – they constantly ask us to pick them up. And my husband has a severely diseased heart – he needs treatment too! I won’t survive alone! He’s such a kind person, he worries so much about the children.”

One year ago, on December 23rd, Nini died… She was still alive when they brought her to the hospital. There, her heart stopped. The doctors were indifferent, they did not even pay attention to her. The screams and cries of her mother reached the heavens. “Save her, revive her!” she shouted. “Give my martyr back her breath.” But the doctors just watched the girl die, and for some reason did not take her to intensive care. Unfortunately, there are such bad people in the world. She lay unconscious for five months. Droppers damaged her veins, bedsores appeared on her body, and a fungal infection appeared in her mouth.
