SOS! SOS! Ten-month-old Nini has never had the chance to see the beauty of this world or hear words of endless love from her mother. She may die quietly, without a sound – but the tears that now run from her closed, beautiful eyes, as she lies connected to a ventilator, will cry out to our conscience for the rest of our lives. In the intensive care unit, tears stream from the eyes of a tiny angel, her eyelids closed, her little body kept alive by artificial breathing.
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
In the ICU lies Nini, connected to a ventilator—our little angel! “Save me,” cry her hot tears, soaking the pillow beneath her closed Georgian eyes.
Nini was born by С-section. Immediately after birth, she was placed in intensive care, where for three months she fought death with her tiny fingers. After discharge, she began suffering seizures and food aspiration, which led to pneumonia.
Now this child is unconscious in the intensive care unit. If the ventilator is switched off even for a moment, the heart of this ten-month-old girl will stop forever. God, this is unbearable pain – not only for Nini’s mother, but for all of Georgia. Her 25-year-old mother keeps vigil over every breath of her daughter. Doctors have warned this poor woman that she must be ready for anything – that each breath could be her baby’s last.
Lena, 25 years old: “When I was pregnant with Nini, an ultrasound in one of the clinics in Kobuleti showed the baby was in breech position. When it came time to deliver, I went to a clinic in Batumi, but no one paid attention to what I said about the breech position. They didn’t schedule a new ultrasound – just prescribed medication to ‘hold the baby.’ I thought that was normal. But during the C-section, it became clear that the Kobuleti clinic had been right—the baby really was in breech position. I can’t say with certainty, but maybe this is one of the reasons my poor little girl is dying now…”
Nini was diagnosed with Rett syndrome. This is a rare disease that disrupts brain development. It occurs almost exclusively in girls. Most children with Rett syndrome develop normally at first. But then the disease takes away movement, coordination, and the ability to communicate. In Nini’s case, the situation is much more severe. Right now, her life is sustained only by a ventilator. But how long can the tiny lungs and heart of a ten-month-old angel endure?
Lena, 25 years old (Nini’s mother): “When I hold Nini’s tiny fingers in my hand, I feel her trying to squeeze mine – and in that moment, tears stream from her closed eyes. She is fighting for her life with all her soul, and I cannot help her. Her brain has been damaged by this cruel disease, but I am ready to sacrifice all my youth, all my remaining life—just to care for Nini until her last breath.
I ask for nothing, only that her heart does not stop. Let her just keep breathing…”
“At home my four-year-old asks me every day: Mommy, when will you bring my little sister home? ‘I miss her.’ What can I answer, when I don’t know myself if Nini will come home alive – or if I will bring back her cold, tiny, lifeless body? Even imagining it is unbearable. I cannot live without Nini. Whenever I ask the doctors something, they always say the same: ‘We can’t say anything. We don’t know. Be ready for anything.’
One thing is clear – it is impossible to save my child in Georgia. She can only be transported abroad with special medical transport, and that costs enormous money. My only hope now is the Chernovetskyi Fund, because I know how many miracles your friends have already made possible.”
God-fearing people! Ten-month-old Nini is drawing closer to death not only with each day, but with every hour. We don’t have a single minute to lose. Let us not leave this little angel alone in her fight for life. Look at her – so helpless, so defenseless. Her tiny fingers weigh only a few grams, yet with those little fingers she clings to life.
If all of Georgia comes together, we can make sure that Nini receives treatment under the protocol of a leading foreign clinic. This is her last chance at salvation. Today, the life of ten-month-old Nini depends on $15,500.
From the Fund’s correspondent: When the desperate 25-year-old mother first called the Fund, we immediately traveled from Tbilisi to Batumi. Since the child was in intensive care, we hardly hoped to be allowed in – but when the clinic learned we were from the Chernovetskyi Fund, they permitted us to enter the ICU for a few minutes, with full protective medical gear. We are deeply grateful to the clinic’s staff for this.
Now it is time for all of Georgia to unite to save Nini’s life.
