Seven-year-old Simon is growing up in a very, very poor – but good and close-knit – large family. There are five children in the house, and unfortunately, the parents simply can’t fulfill the wishes of each one.
Even something as simple as a new school bag has become Simon’s cherished dream. His old one is completely worn out. He also wears the same clothes every day and dreams of having some new, nice ones.
Simon, 7 years old: “Auntie, when I pack my school supplies in this bag, they sometimes fall out. I keep turning around to make sure I don’t lose anything. Mama has mended it many times, but it’s so old that it keeps tearing again.”
Simon’s biggest dream is to have a phone. Every classmate already has one, and Simon is the only one left watching them with sadness. He dreams of having a phone so he can keep up with the others, and so he can look up information for his schoolwork – because school is so important to him!
He also dreams of having a real Spider-Man costume and a toy gun – because when he grows up, he wants to become a police officer and help people in trouble. Let’s help Simon! Every child deserves to have their dreams come true.
