When we arrived at the Chikvaidze home, Dito didn’t utter a word. He just sat on the floor, clutching an old toy car in his hands. His eyes seemed to speak more than words ever could – there was something in them of an adult’s pain, a pain no five-year-old should ever know.

In a corner nearby, his sister Anna was drawing on the ground with a stick. She had no pencils, no coloring books, no toys – only a dream. A small, simple, childish dream: “I want a book where I can draw… and a doll with a pink dress,” she whispered when we spoke with her.

This family lives in the village of Sairkhe, in a house that looks more like a shack than a proper home. The walls shake in the wind, the roof leaks, and inside live three children and their parents, barely holding on to survive.

Five-year-old Dito is seriously ill – brain damage, epilepsy, constant fears, and pain.. Four-year-old Anna grows up surrounded by this hardship, yet still knows how to smile.
Their mother, Nato, cradles three-month-old Emilia and warms the children with her own body, because there is no heating in the house.

As we were leaving, Dito finally whispered, barely audible:
“Can I have a car that moves?” It was not just a child’s wish. It was a call for life.

Friends, they don’t need expensive things.
They need warm clothes, toys, coloring books – all the little things that make childhood real. Let’s give Dito and Anna a piece of joy they have never known.
