Four months ago, on December 17 – Saint Barbara’s Day -Guram’s life changed forever. He celebrated the holiday the way it’s usually done in Georgia – with plenty of food and drink – but somehow, Guram was the only one who got sick. He fell into a deep sleep, and during the night began to vomit. It seemed like nothing serious – but his airways became blocked by saliva, cutting off oxygen to his brain. And just like that, this handsome young man fell into a coma.

Day and night, his loving mother caresses her son – her whole world.  Everything in their home has already been sold. With her last bit of money, she pays 6600 GEL a month just to keep the love of her life alive.

Friends, there is now a glimmer of hope to help Guram get back on his feet. A special implant has become available – it can be used to treat his brain! But it costs $3,000, and the family simply doesn’t have that kind of money.  Today, this is the price of his life.   Please, don’t forget that.

“My mommy doesn’t just lie in bed anymore – she walks!” says joyful Anna‑Maria, before running back to shower her mom with kisses and hugs. – She’s going to make me something to eat, and then we’ll go for a walk. I need a haircut at the salon – it gets in the way when I’m swimming. I’m so glad you saved my mom – it doesn’t scare me anymore.”

Friends, Lasha’s future – his very life – depends on financial support. That’s the harsh reality. After all he’s endured, he now needs two extremely complex hip surgeries just to start moving again. Right now, his body is literally frozen in one position. Each operation costs 18,000 GEL in Georgia – first one leg, then the other in about three months. After that, he’ll need long-term rehabilitation. Please don’t doubt: every lari you donate will go directly to pay for Lasha’s treatment and will be transferred straight to the clinic. Gio (9 years old): “The tumor in her head is so big that she’s gone completely blind in one eye. My poor Mommy…”

Gio: “Mommy, don’t cry. Everything will be okay. You’re strong – you have to beat this for our sake! Who will take care of us if not you?”

Two tumors have taken root in Asmat’s brain, pressing against her central nervous system, slowly destroying her body. It’s like a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment…

Asmat (36 years old): “I barely survived the biopsy. The surgeons said the tumor is in a dangerous spot. One wrong move, and I wouldn’t be here now.”

Asmat’s husband, David, had to leave his job to care for her. Now, he is her hands and her legs. Since the paralysis set in, she can’t stand or walk on her own.

Elza’s life is nothing but suffering.  She was born with a severe form of scoliosis. Her spine is so badly twisted that the constant pain makes her vision go dark, crushes her lungs, and leaves her gasping for air.

A massive hump on her back makes it difficult to sleep, breathe, or walk.

Elza (41 years old): “I can’t take this pain anymore. I didn’t sleep a single minute last night! What did I do to deserve this suffering since birth? Why is God punishing me like this?”

Despite her condition, Elza sleeps on an old, collapsing couch. All night long, she moans in agony. Painkillers don’t help, and she can’t afford to see a doctor.  Her only income is a disability allowance and her mother’s small pension. But it’s nowhere near enough for treatment.

Elza: “If I don’t take my medication on time, I could die. But at this point, I’m not even afraid of hell after death—because I’m already living in it!”

As if her spinal disease weren’t enough, Elza also has diabetes. She’s run out of test strips to monitor her blood sugar, and she has no money for medicine. Just a few days ago, she collapsed and was unconscious for a long time. You know what that means. Her biggest fear is slipping into a coma and never waking up again.
