For a month and a half, he has been operated on for 18 times, 18 time he got anesthesia… His lungs were cut out piece by piece: first one, then another. Now he has a quarter of his lung left. He survived 18 deaths. He’s alive now. But he doesn’t have much time left. He knows about it, and his mom and dad know… You have to be very strong to live with that.

You need to have nerves of steel to live with the thought that your 16-year-old son will die, that he cannot be cured, that everything will be over soon… And everything depends only on how strong his heart is.

“I’m sick,” says Irakli. – “Now I cannot get out of bed, I am weak. But I have a dream. I have this dream it since childhood. I kept dreaming of saving up money and buying an electric scooter. So, I close my eyes and imagine that it is in the yard and that I get up, run up to it, sit down and then – wroom! I’m riding it and the wind blows in my face. But now I have no scooter, no health. Irakli will not be here for long… You know how I want to live my last days as a normal person…”

Wait, we will take a breath, come to our senses and continue the story… A story about a 16-year-old guy who lives waiting for death. We will tell you about his experiences, about how you can lose everything in one minute… Brace yourself. Listen!

Heart, don’t you dare stop beating!

January 1st, 2021. Lots of fun and noises. We sang songs loudly, congratulated each other on the New Year. Suddenly this joyful sounds were overlapped by Irakli’s doomed cry for help: “Mom, I feel bad, help me!” He started vomiting with blood, we started panicking, one hospital, another hospital – no one could help him. In Batumi, they punctured his lung so that he could breathe and live while they were transporting him to the hospital in Tbilisi…

Tamila: The year began with this nightmare. My perfectly healthy son started dying in my arms. My healthiest, kindest and most beautiful son. How could this happen to you?

Now everything is in the hands of God

Irakli: Mom, don’t cry, don’t be dramatic. Everything will be fine.
Everything’s gonna be alright. I can handle.

– Irakli, tell me about yourself. How do you feel?

Irakli: I wish it was better. Everything hurts, but I try to stand that. I don’t want to make my mom and dad upset. It was so good before I got ill. We lived so well…

– How did you live before you got ill?

Irakli: I went to school, I had friends, I worked in a cafe with my mother, helped her, saved money for my dream – a scooter.  And suddenly one day it all ended like that.

Don’t say that, Irakli. It’s not over yet.

Irakli: Have you seen our house? How many kilometers did you walk to get here?  You know how scary it is to realize that if I will feel bad, and my mom and dad will start worrying again because they cannot take me to the hospital. I know that I am not here for long, but the time that is left I want to live in a normal conditions, next to a normal road where an ambulance can arrive.

What if the ambulance doesn’t come on time?!

– And what were you dreaming about before you got ill?

Irakli: Eh, does it matter… Are you really interested? Really? You know, after I felt bad, no one communicates with me, except for my mom and dad. My friends were not around. And sometimes you just want to talk to someone. I just want to dream about something.

– Irakli, I am your friend, our readers are your friends. Share your dreams with us. What have you dreamed about?

Irakli: My most cherished dream since my childhood was to have a scooter! And you know, I still dream about it! I know that I cannot walk. I am too weak now. I know that I need tremendous efforts just to get out of bed. But if I knew that there was a scooter behind this door, I would probably jump out of bed and sit on it… You know how much I dream about it …

-Is it not dangerous!?

Irakli: Not of course. I can teach you if you want. Promise me, if I get better and have a scooter, you will come and I will teach you how to ride! Agree?

– Of course, Irakli. How can I turn your offer down – we are friends! And I really want to learn how to ride a scooter!

Irakli: I am so glad. It’s so nice to hear that!

– My friend, could I talk please to your mom?

Irakli: Of course. You made me feel so motivated.

When you are sick there is no one near you. Even your friends don’t need you.

– Tamila, he is so wonderful! So strong and optimistic.

Tamila: You are right, and that’s the hardest thing to see. He has always been the life of the party. Before the last operation, he refused to go to the ward, until the doctor told him the truth. And the truth was terrible… “It is impossible to cure you, you will live as long as your heart can work.” Irakli almost jumped out of the window. He started beating the wall with his fists, cried, but then pulled himself together and said: “Well, if that’s the case, I’ll fight as long as I can, and I’ll live as long as I can.”

– I can imagine how he feels. And how you feel as well… I have no words.

Tamila: I and Irakli’s stepfather, who is like father to him, do not leave him. We sold absolutely everything for his operations: appliances, furniture, everything of value. Now we don’t even have enough money for food. Can you imagine how terrible it is? Kind people help us. And look where we live: seven kilometers away form a normal road. It is impossible to live here even for healthy people, imagine how it with a seriously ill son…

When the weather is bad it you have to walk seven kilometers to reach Irakli’s house.

– What about the state?

Tamila: The state assigned him 50-GEL-allowance. And did not assign him pension.

– Tamila, what do you need most right now?

Tamila: The only thing that can help us now is to settle in some place where an ambulance can drive up if my son gets sick.
We also need an oxygen tank and food.

You haven’t got any appliances…

Tamila: How can I say that? I can lose my son soon …

“I can lose my son soon”

– Tamila, what are you dreaming about?

Tamila: So that his heart does not stop…

(Having said these words, Tamila could not hold back her tears. She burst into tears… And Irakli asked: “That’s enough, my mother is very worried, and it hurts me to look at it.”)

– Irakli what wish would you make?

Irakli: I have one wish, but it is very tricky. I want to teach you riding my scooter. Do you see? It means that I’ll be well, I’ll be able to walk on my own and I will have enough strength to hold you. It also means that I will live in a normal place. Will we really be friends as long as I live?

– Irakli, after we publish this story, you will get hundreds of friends!

Irakli: I will be happy! Indeed!

* * *

Friends, Irakli needs you as no one else! He needs our support and our presence.

You can visit this hero yourself and become his true friend, he needs to have friends the most now. His address is: Ozurgeti Municipality, village Shroma.

At the moment, most of all, he needs to change housing. Maybe some of you, friends, could offer him an apartment or pay the rent?

Irakli needs to breathe so that his life is not painful! His quarter of a lung can’t cope. So, we start raising funds for an oxygen tank, medications, a comfortable bed and household appliances. And, of course, an electric scooter! Lord will condemn us if the dream of this courageous young Georgian man, doomed to death, will not come true! He wants so much to teach us to ride scooter and to love life!

We know, his diagnosis is unpromising. But we can do even the impossible for the most wonderful guy, right? Who will help us with that? Our Lord, of course! Because it was Him who made you read this story to the end.

Don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

Friends, there is one more request: if you know about the misfortune of a neighbor or friend do a godly deed, drop us an email at: office-fsp@fsp.ge.

Thank you for every new day!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“Mom, is this all really for me? Please, help me to get out of bed! I must see my scooter! – Irakli’s eyes shine with happiness and fire. – Is this heart beating? Listen mom. Do not be afraid! That’s because it is so happy.”

God help me!

“If you only knew how much I want to jump out of bed and ride a scooter together with you!”

One year ago, doctors announced Irakli a verdict – two terrible diagnoses at once, there is no hope.Eighteen operations per year. He has been operated on eighteen times during last year. It is so difficult for him to breathe! His lungs can’t cope… We told you the story about Irakli several months ago: https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/746-adeishvili/. Nobody knows how many more sunrises this guy will see. Everything is the will of God… It depends on how his heart will handle it… But he keeps fighting! And thanks to you, your help, the cherished dreams of this Georgian boy came true. “The heart is a small, fragile piggy bank. A piggy bank from which life takes strength every day. And you fill it! – Irakli’s mother Tamila says with tears. – You fill it with your joyful emotions and happiness. He knows he won’t get well… He knows that he is fading away. But I am grateful for every smile on his face, for every joyful word he says, for his every new day!”

“I want to be happy. I want to be with you. I want to enjoy my dream. There are so many good people! – says Irakli. – I am grateful for your help and support, for your every kind word! You gave us home appliances, an oxygen cylinder, you transferred funds to us. Most importantly, my family and I are not alone.”

There is a new electric scooter – Irakli’s dream – standing in the backyard. He had a dream and now, thanks to you, friends, this dream came true! And it became an incentive to gain strength, so that one day to still ride it and rush towards the sun! “Every morning my son asks me to take him out into the yard. He looks at the scooter and dreams… His eyes shine like fireflies, and mine are full of tears. I cry with happiness because my child smiles so rarely…”

Irakli promised he would fight to get better! He will fight for the most valuable thing – for life! And people’s attention and help are the main weapon in his unequal battle against this deadly disease. Maybe a miracle will happen? Maybe he will survive? Lord help him!

– Tamila, we know how hard this verdict is for you and how important support is. Could you please tell us what happened after our Fund wrote an article about your trouble?

Tamila: Irakli is not only my son now – but he is also the son of everyone… He is the son of entire Georgia! I gave him life… And you, with even a little help, your daily attention, and warmth prolong his life, strengthen his faith, light a spark of hope in his heart! His life depends on this heart! Thank you, Lord, for not leaving my son. Thank you for sending us kind people!

You know that Irakli was operated on eighteen times. We are fighting two diseases at the same time – pneumothorax and pneumosclerosis. It is difficult for him to breathe. Everything depends on his heart, on how long it will withstand… We are fighting… You probably understand how important each positive emotion is for him! This attitude comes from the people who take care of him, it is a kind of chain… When he saw the scooter, he had dreamed of so much, his eyes lit up with happiness, even though he could not ride it; it became an incentive for him.  Every day he asks me to take him out, and he looks at the scooter in the yard. He is waiting for his condition to improve…

This scooter is a real challenge to the disease, so that Irakli does not lose his passion for life and combats his disease like a real warrior

Irakli: If you only knew how much I want to put on my helmet and take a ride! I am still happy that the scooter of my dreams is waiting for me in the yard. So many people have worried about me. I know the Lord will not leave me. Everyone is praying for me, Father Naum is praying too. And your kindness and your prayers are most important to me…

– Irakli, we all love you and want only one thing – for you to get well. We pray for you! I know you have received many calls; you have made many new friends. Who do you remember the most?

Tamila: Not a day passes without someone calling us and asking how we are. Complete strangers call us from different regions of the country. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names, people often keep anonymous. Although kindness has no name… (Tamila can’t hold back her tears.)

Employees of your Fund – David, Nana – are constantly in touch with us, they often ask how we are, how Irakli is, what we need. I would like to mention one emigrant – Maiko Belidzhanashvili. I am immensely grateful to her for her attention! She contacted me via social media after the post was published. Maiko got her friends involved to help us:  Ia Chitashvili, Ia Chochishvili, Mamuka Gachechiladze. Thank you!

I would especially like to thank Ia Chochishvili. She helped us many times. This woman of faith radiates boundless goodness! Her son was dying of cancer, but she still took care of other people’s children! And the Lord helped her – he saved her child! Her son defeated cancer!

I would also like to find one kind woman – I don’t know her name. She is about 60 years old, with a bright face. She came to the hospital, knelt, and prayed for Irakli for a long time. She encouraged me: “Be strong, mommy…” She supported us in every possible way, she rose the entire hospital to its feet. God bless her. I only have a photograph of her, I really want to know who she is.

I constantly pray… Lord, save all mothers from diseases of their children! What can be harder than realizing that the person you love the most may no longer be…

(Tamila pauses so as not to burst into tears. After a few minutes of silence, she finds the strength to continue.)

The emigrant Medea Samkharadze also supported us – she sent her son and daughter-in-law to our hospital during the operation… They repeatedly helped us with the necessary items and foodstuffs. I will never forget their kindness!

I will never forget your kindness! So many of your people have made money transfers for my boy. You all took our misfortune to heart. That’s why I say that Irakli is not only my son, but he is also the son of each of you, my good people. You give us strength. Your love saves you from pain and despair.

Irakli: I made friends with many people who are older than me. But my peers do not want to be friends with me. Probably, they think what’s the point, he will die anyway…

– Please don’t say that. I’m sure you’re wrong about that. Let’s talk about your dream that came true. I don’t even ask which of the gifts made you happy the most…

“When I put on my helmet and close my eyes, I imagine myself riding my scooter at high speed …”

Irakli: The scooter, for sure! I was very happy. But the tablet is also good …

– Just promise me to be more active on social networks. Okay? How can new friends get in touch with you if you have closed your Facebook profile?

Irakli: I promise! (Smiles.) But I don’t always want to communicate. I want to use my tablet for educational purposes, to get acquainted with information… Well, I will try. Thank you for other gifts too – for the appliances, for the furniture. Thanks for taking care of my mom.

“I love to surf the Internet – there I forget about the pain for a while”

“I imagine that I am an ordinary boy… I am not sick… I have my own room with light wallpaper. There is the furniture you donated. My new friends come to visit me. We have fun, talk a lot, laugh “

Tamila: Do you know what a sweet boy he is? He always thinks of me. While he was healthy, he always helped me, supported me.

Once, due to problems, I forgot about my birthday. Little Irakli, while seeing me off to work, asked me a thousand times: “Mom, will you come soon?” I replied to him in a slightly annoyed voice: “I’ll come, what else can I do.” And so, when I came back, a beautiful cake was waiting for me on the table. (Cries.) It turned out that he brought all necessary foodstuffs to our neighbor and asked her: “Today is Mommy’s birthday and I want to surprise her.” She could not refuse him and helped.

The Adeishvili family got many gifts from you for their home, you tried to make their life as easy as possible. Irakli and Tamila feel how much you wanted to support them, and they are grateful to you

– What a heartwarming story – he came up with a great idea. Tamila, did the local authorities respond to our post?

Did they react in any way?

Tamila: After the first surgery, we received only one-time aid in the amount of 200 GEL from the Samtredia Municipality. (Irakli was born in Samtredia.) And that’s it.

– Tamila, we know that you need a lot of things to fight the disease.

Tamila: Everything that you have done for us is very important and valuable! Thank you for every gift, for your solidarity, empathy, thank you for your love! But what to do – there is no end to the needs. The main problem is housing, our living conditions since I lost my house… We needed another 70 thousand GEL for surgery, in addition to funding we’ve got. Where would I get them so quickly? I mortgaged our house in the bank and lost it, unfortunately. Now we live with our relatives, seven kilometers away from the regional center. The road is bad, and we often need to call the ambulance. It is difficult for the ambulance to arrive quickly.

In addition, there are thirteen of us living in a small room. And Irakli needs special care, especially in the context of this pandemic. A sick child should feel safe. I don’t know, maybe a kind person will suddenly appear who has a house not far from the regional center, not far from the hospital, and he will temporarily let us in? Until we get back on our feet, until we recover… (Cries.)

I want to take Irakli to the Kintsvisi church, I want to pray for his salvation. Its grace has already saved my boy once… Father Naum from Kintsvisi came to the Iashvili clinic for Irakli’s sake. His fervent prayer and intercession after the last, eighteenth surgery brought Irakli to his senses, although he was almost unconscious. I hope for a miracle again…

Please, hold on, dear!
