A miracle happened! After the surgery, I took my first independent steps! If it weren’t for the kind friends of the Fund, I would have remained confined to a wheelchair forever

calendar March 20, 2024

Ani (19 years old): The unbelievable happened! After the surgery, I took my first independent steps! I set aside my walker and walked. I managed to take four or five steps. The feeling is indescribable! The doctors say it’s a true miracle! If it weren’t for the kind friends of the Fund, I would have remained confined to a wheelchair forever. I feel great, except for the pain in my legs. But this pain is also a positive sign. It means sensation is returning to my legs. My body is starting to recover after the surgery.

There is no greater tragedy for a modest beauty – a Georgian girl who has just finished school – than to become a complete cripple, bound for life to a wheelchair! What a tragedy, dear child!!! We will do our best to help you, Anna! Just don’t despair! God loves you!

MAKE A REPOST IMMEDIATELY, KIND PERSON! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

For 18-year-old Anna, one of the happiest days in her life – high school graduation and the anticipation of first love, university studies, and marriage – ended in a horrific accident! Just one second split her life in two, took away hopes for a bright and joyful future, family, motherhood, and turned it into unbearable suffering and a fight for survival!

“I never thought such a thing could happen to me. I dreamed of dancing with my beloved at the wedding in front of our parents, and now I can’t even walk.”

Anna: Thanks to God, I’m alive! And I am very, very grateful to Him! But look how much suffering I have ahead of me before I can stand on my feet!

“I was operated on for 13 hours. The doctors said I wouldn’t survive!”

– Anna, if you don’t mind, could you please tell us about the tragedy…

Anna: It happened on the happiest day of my life. I had just graduated from school and was getting ready to step into adulthood. Oh God! I had so many dreams about the future. Our class celebrated this day on May 25th. We spent the whole day exploring the city together! And in the evening, we planned to celebrate our diplomas at a restaurant. Many of my friends had cars, and I got into one of them. I was tired and dozed off for a moment. And at that moment, the cars collided. No one was hurt except for me!

– What injuries did she have?

Nana (Anna’s Mom): Let me tell you… Anna will break down, and the Fund’s friends will never hear about this terrible tragedy! As a result of the car accident, my daughter suffered severe spinal cord damage, a concussion, a fracture of the lumbar spine, vertebral dislocation, and a spinal cord injury. Her lungs were also injured. Oh God, it was horrifying! It’s been almost a year, and just remembering it sends shivers down my spine… Anna underwent a 13-hour surgery! Can you imagine what I went through? Only mothers can understand this pain. I always thought that despite the great tragedies in my life, God blessed me with healthy children, but then this happened to us… When I was told that Anna was in an accident, that journey from home to the hospital felt like an eternity. I prayed all the prayers I knew, prepared for everything… Oh God! Oh God!!!

“I beg you, help me get back on my feet… My mom can’t fight my illness alone anymore.  And I don’t have a dad! He tragically passed away 12 years ago. And it’s good he didn’t live to see this tragedy!  He would have died again, but this time he would have died from sorrow!

– What happened to him?

Nana: He drowned in the river, poor thing. I was pregnant with our fifth child at the time. I have no idea how we coped without him. I was left with five little daughters, and my father became our only support. But just a week ago, he passed away too. And now, I don’t know how we’ll manage without him.

That’s how Mom pushes her daughter to the rehabilitation center in a wheelchair. They don’t have money for a taxi. Nana cleans apartments because they need food. The allowance is only enough for rehabilitation.

– Is there a chance for your daughter to walk again?

Nana:  Yes, of course, if there is willpower and endurance to bear the pain, and, of course, money for rehabilitation and medication!  Anna is very, very determined… She’s already taking a few steps and dreams of wearing a wedding dress.  Look at how beautiful she is!

Mother Nana: “Look into my eyes and believe me: I would never, ever dare to ask for help from strangers. But we have no one left: neither a husband nor my father. Only memories of the happiness I experienced with my children in a loving family. You are our last hope! We are just ordinary Georgian women. What can we do? I beg you, please help! And I promise to invite everyone to Anna’s wedding! God, you will see a miracle! And I believe with all my heart that it will happen, because God is merciful!”

– Is there no one helping you? How do you live?

Nana: I clean apartments to earn money for bread. They no longer pay us an allowance. It’s so hard for us right now! I rent an apartment near the clinic and, to save money on taxis, I take my daughter to her procedures in her wheelchair. Thank God that they fund her rehabilitation, but we don’t have the means for the rest of her treatment.

– Why did they stop paying you allowance?

Nana: After the accident, we had to move from the village to Tbilisi for rehabilitation.  We changed our place of residence, and my youngest daughter, 12-year-old Salome, lives not with me now. She lives with her older sister Melano in Borjomi. Melano got married there. That’s how one incident destroyed our family. But now the main thing is Anna’s health!

– Does rehabilitation help?

Nana: In Kutaisi, when they operated her on, the doctors said that Anna was doomed and that she wouldn’t be able to move at all. That even lifting herself slightly – it would be impossible for her! But look at what God can do! Isn’t it a miracle? Honestly, I also found it hard to believe that Anna would be able to take steps, everything was so complicated. But with God’s help, thanks to Anna’s perseverance and the professionalism of the rehabilitation specialists, we have achieved great results. And now our biggest hope is in you! In your Fund, in kind-hearted people who trust the Fund. We have no more resources.   I sold everything we had!

“I know that I will be able to put on a dress again and dance on stage.”

Anna: I was so embarrassed to ask for help, but my mom can no longer cope alone.

– Anna, you’re a very beautiful girl. I’m sure you’ll overcome all the difficulties. Your optimism is inspiring! And I have one more question. What were your plans after finishing school? What were your dreams?Anna: Right now, I don’t think about it at all. I don’t want to dwell on the past. My only dream is to take steps without any external assistance.   Actually, it’s not even a dream! I know it will happen; you just need money for that!

Nana: Anna danced very well. I guess her physical fitness is what helps her; she can do the impossible!

Anna is a hero! She might be hiding her sorrow from others, but in those moments when she gazes into the distance, you can see a reflection of pain and unspoken desires in her eyes.  She doesn’t dream of standing on her feet because she knows it will happen. She needs time to adapt to and accept the new reality, but it shouldn’t take away her strength and motivation.

In her current battle, the most crucial aspect for Anna is rehabilitation and support, both moral and financial. Inaction may deprive Anna of the chance to return to a full life. That’s why we must unite for her sake!

Anna’s story reminds us of the fragility of human life and the necessity of support in difficult times. Albert Einstein once said: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Anna faces the challenge of maintaining this balance, and she needs our help. Each of us can become part of this movement.

If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tbilisi, Kavtaradze second turn, building 3.

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!

We are sure that all together we will manage to save Anna from imminent death.

Please don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

A miracle happened! After the surgery, I took my first independent steps! If it weren’t for the kind friends of the Fund, I would have remained confined to a wheelchair forever.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

– Ani, first of all, congratulations! I have tears in my eyes. I’m so happy to see you standing confidently. How do you feel?

Ani (19 years old): The unbelievable happened! After the surgery, I took my first independent steps! I set aside my walker and walked. I managed to take four or five steps. The feeling is indescribable! The doctors say it’s a true miracle! If it weren’t for the kind friends of the Fund, I would have remained confined to a wheelchair forever. I feel great, except for the pain in my legs. But this pain is also a positive sign. It means sensation is returning to my legs. My body is starting to recover after the surgery.

“This photo was taken before the surgery. I couldn’t walk. My legs would give way, and I often fell. My last hope was a stem cell transplant.”

“A year ago, I underwent a very complex surgery. It lasted 13 hours. The doctors said I wouldn’t survive!”

“With your help, I had a second surgery, and now I’m undergoing rehabilitation and working hard every day!”

“Sensation is returning to my legs! If they hurt, it means they’re coming back to life!”

You probably remember this girl’s story. Ani was in a car accident on her graduation day and, as a result, suffered a spinal fracture. After that, she couldn’t walk. It was a fight for survival! And then she won! To help Ani walk again, all of Georgia came together to raise 7,500 lari, and the girl underwent a stem cell transplant! That is, living stem cells from the bone marrow were transplanted from her leg to her spine. Together, as a united team, we can accomplish many good deeds! You all worked an incredible miracle!

– How did the surgery go, Ani? Were you scared?

Ani: Actually, I’m even afraid of injections. I was worried about how it would go.  The doctors put me to sleep, and when I woke up in the ward, it was all done. It all went successfully, thank God.

– Did you believe that with the help of the Fund’s friends, you could raise the necessary amount?

Ani: Of course, I did! Thanks to the Chernovetskyi Fund, miracles often happen! I see it with my own eyes, I watch your work, read posts, and watch videos. I was sure and waited for a miracle! And a miracle happened! With your help, I can now walk, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

“Before the accident, I danced in an ensemble for 9 years. My biggest dream is to dance on stage again!”

– I wish you to soon dance at your own wedding, Ani. You are a very beautiful and kind girl – we all wish you happiness!

Ani: Thank you. My boyfriend supports me a lot; without his fighting spirit, I wouldn’t have made it. Thank God I have a reliable man by my side! And of course, I will gladly invite you to my wedding!

– What would you like to say to all the people who helped you?

Ani: I thank each one of you. When I stand on my feet, I will try to do something useful and help people too. Every lari donated was important to me! I feel like I’ve been reborn and celebrate my second birthday! Thank you, kind hearts!

– I’ll ask your mother a few questions. I know she worried as much as you did. Nana, what news do you have after the surgery?

Nana (mother): Now we are attending rehabilitation sessions. Strength is slowly returning to my daughter. The doctors say: “Ani, you are walking much better than before. In six months of rehabilitation, the results will be visible.”

“When the doctor saw Ani after the surgery, he said that a real miracle had happened. Even he didn’t expect this. And it’s all thanks to Ani’s immense desire to walk.”

– How important was the support of the Fund’s friends to you?

Nana: Without you, my dear ones, we wouldn’t have been able to have my daughter’s surgery. With God’s help, everything went successfully. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this good deed. Please convey my gratitude to everyone!

– What help do you need now?

Nana: I can’t pay my rent – it’s too much of a burden for a single mom, so I started working the night shift at the store. We moved from Poti to Tbilisi to have the surgery and go through rehabilitation.  During the day, I take Ani to rehabilitation, and in the evening, I go to work. What else can I do? I can’t leave my daughter halfway; we must go to the end. My husband died 12 years ago when I was pregnant with our fifth child. And it’s good he didn’t live to see this tragedy! He would have died of grief!

I feel so awkward asking, but if kind people could help us with the rent, we would be endlessly grateful!

We appeal to all compassionate people. Let’s help this family pay the rent for the duration of the rehabilitation. Just six months! This girl has been through many trials; she is a true heroine! Now she needs one last push to achieve a healthy and happy future. Because life at 19 is just beginning, and there should only be happiness ahead!
