“How is it possible: when you are hungry, your stomach hurts, and when you eat, it still hurts? – Nika asks and desperately adds: – Probably because I don’t eat every day.” I’m even afraid to ask the boy for how many days he hasn’t eaten. The eerie silence is broken by Nika: “I don’t even remember when the last time was I ate candy.”
Correspondent: I am even afraid to ask the baby how many days he hasn’t eaten.

What fate awaits a boy who starves and lives in complete poverty? Who has no toys and does not remember the last time he ate. The boy who only saw the good life in the neighbor children’s life and who wants to be someone else, but not himself!
It’s impossible to live in this house and not dream of another life.
The windows are sealed with cellophane, and one window is just walled up
– Maya, to be honest, I could not even imagine that someone lives in this house.
Maya: You are right, it is impossible to live here. The roof leaks there are no glass in the windows, and the doors are blown out with each passing breeze. One day it just might fall apart. It’s impossible to heat it. Nikoloz and I suffered a lot in the winter. Fortunately, we survived it… He and I brought small branches from the forest and warmed ourselves.
“Look how many branches I brought. It won’t be that cold at night.”
“I’ll poke at the coals, and it will become warmer ..”
– How did you find yourself here?
Maya: This is my mother-in-law’s house. We have always lived in poverty: both when there were many of us, and when my son and I were left completely alone. I learned not to eat and to give my share to my children.
– I didn’t see any more children here besides Nika. Where are they?
Maya: I have seven children. My eldest daughters – 30-year-old Mari and 24-year-old Kristina – have their own families. My Son Giorgi (he is 28 years old) does not live with us, we rarely communicate. My 16-year-old son Vano lives with his aunt, my husband’s sister. And 19-year-old Keti and 10-year-old Mikhail are brought up in a foster family. It’s only Nika who stayed in this terrible house with his mother. If the social workers take him too, I will have no reason to live…
– What about your husband?
Maya: He was released from prison recently. He spent two years in jail for hooliganism. But he is a sick person, he will not be able to work, as before, at hard work.
– What do you live on?
Maya: We live on an allowance of 450 GEL. I pay utility bills, buy flour, and there is barely enough money for the rest. Everything is so expensive now.
Nikoloz’s only dream is to be like other children
Nikoloz (7-year-old): Mom can never buy me candy. And toys either.
– What kind of toys would you like to have?
Nikoloz: Ones like the neighbor boys have – cars or a ball. They also have a bicycle, but they won’t give it to me. They say you have to have your own one.
– So, you dream of a bicycle?
Nikoloz: No! I only dream about food. I just want delicious food. Not only bread, but something else too.
– I suppose you think that you will grow up, earn a lot of money and buy everything for yourself?
Nikoloz: No. I do not think about it. I don’t know if it’s good to “grow up” at all.
Nikoloz has no toys. Neighbor kids don’t lend their toys to him. The only thing left is to watch from afar and hold back tears …
– Do you think it’s more difficult to be an adult?
Nikoloz: All adults are unhappy. Mom cries all the time, dad too…
– Maya, why did you contact us?
Maya: I’m just in despair… I have nothing to feed my child. I would like to ask the whole Georgia to save us from starvation. I saw, I read – you can do it.
– What else do you need besides groceries?
Maya: I can’t even come up with anything. Maybe you can take a look and tell me? I will show you the house.
Mom and son sleep in this bed
There is no water at home, and little Nikoloz has to bring it from afar
There is a refrigerator, but it does not freeze, and serves as a cabinet
And there is nothing to say about windows and doors at all – they simply do not exist!
This is the front door… You need to make an effort to close it and not be left without doors

Friends, now you have seen everything! Words or photographs cannot convey this poverty – you must feel it! You need to feel the pain of these unfortunate people, and then your heart itself will ask you to help them.
First of all, they really need food. Mom can think of nothing but of feeding her son. But we can see that this family needs just everything! They need beds, linens, front door and windows. They certainly need to resolve the water problem – bring water to the house and install at least one sink with a tap. A small fridge and TV will also make them happy. And if you really want to make Nikoloz happy, give him a bike or toys. He will never forget these gifts!
If anyone dares to see this horror with their own eyes, here is their address: Sagarejo Municipality, village Badiauri.
Every time you can help someone, just do it and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.

“There will be no more need to collect firewood and our hands will no longer be scratched. Mom will no longer have to carry bags on her back, and her back will no longer hurt because of this… “- says little Nika. Mother and son are very happy with their new heater.
“Do you think it is as hard to fire up as a wood-burning stove?! You just press it – and you’re done!
“Oh, how well it warms, come closer, get warm, don’t be cold!”
Thanks to good friends of our Fund, we bought for Nika not only a heater, but also a bed and a TV, and we made happy his mother Maya with a washing machine and a new refrigerator.
“Thank you for making my mom happy. I will hug you all tight…”
“The refrigerator has not been turned on in this house for a long time!” You made me so happy!
The Avagimov family lives in the village of Badiauri. They live in great need. A mother and child who live only on social allowance often go hungry because it is difficult to survive on this income from month to month when food prices are skyrocketing. Their house is also in disrepair, they do not have the necessary conditions for a normal life. Our Fund published a post about the Avagimov family on June 26.
– Nino, how your life has changed since our Fund published a post about your plight and let out good friends know about you?
Maia: I wish I could thank everyone one by one. These people illuminate the world with the light of their goodness. What would our small country be like without them – what would it be without kind people? You know how we missed warmth – emotional warmth and physical warmth… You brought us both! You warmed us both ways!
Which gift did you like the most? A heater?
Maia (46-year-old): We were really happy! We had to gather firewood in the forest everyday – it was pretty hard.
Nika (7-year-old): I helped my mom. I would not let her go alone. I am a man in this family. What if she met wolves in the forest?
Aren’t you afraid of wolves?
Nika: I’m a little afraid of them, but they won’t notice me… I can stand everything. I can stand when I’m hungry. I can even stand when my stomach hurts. No one notices me…
Sometimes you should not stand everything, and you should tell us…
Nika: I will tell you. I liked the TV – it shows good cartoons. Sometimes I have fun watching it. Well, I don’t have toys and how else can I have fun? Just studying and helping my mother in bringing water is tiring.
Do you bring water from afar?
Maia: Yes, we still bring it. But they already started making water piping for us. We will soon install a washing machine that you gave us and there will be no longer a need to make laundry with hands. I am so glad! I can’t wait when they finish installations.
What cartoons do you watch, Nika?
“They said this TV is smart. I wonder whether it will guess which cartoon I like the most.”
Nika: I love cartoons about robots. It is interesting. I really like toy robots and devices with the remote control, but I have never had one. I know, I will never have it. When I look at it and it feels like I play it.
Maia: Nika was happy with a bed. Now my boy sleeps sweetly. Is it so, Nika?
Nika: Yes! I can even jump on my bed sometimes. Mommy does not let me do that – she says we should handle the bed carefully. I will handle carefully all the gifts you brought. Thank you very much!
“I’ll sleep in this bed, I won’t huddle up anymore, and I’ll grow up to be a big boy.”
Maia, many people read an article about you on social networks. Many of them responded. I think many strangers called you willing to help you.
Maia: We don’t use social networks – we have neither Internet, nor appropriate appliances. They really called me and said they read my story on a Facebook. Two guys came to visit us. They brought a lot of foodstuffs. They made us very happy. It was a very warm day. Nika was glad too.
‘Hello, hello, can you hear me? Before I have a real phone, I’ll call you on the magic phone to thank you!”
Was there any response from the local authorities?
Maia: The Head of the local administration came to see our house. So far, there have been no real steps, no action in terms of reroofing the house, but let’s wait. I hope they will help us.
Maia, I know you still have a lot of problems…
Maia: Problems of the poor never end. I feel embarrassed to ask again – we have already bothered so many people! Most of all, I want water not to pour on us from the ceiling. Winter is coming – the time of rains and snow. You can probably imagine what awaits us.

Friends, we continue the project started to help this unfortunate family. Maybe together we will manage to protect them from the harsh winter. The most important thing now is a roof repair. They also need worm clothes and foodstuffs.
