"I feel neither good, nor bad. I feel nothing. My only son and husband lie motionless in the cold earth of the cemetery... and here I am within these four walls," whispers Grandma Lamara barely audibly, wiping her dry eyes. Not a single tear has been left in 17 years - she’s cried it all out. She cries, crying from within, shrouded in darkness. She wants to die, to be near those she has lost, but death seems to avoid her, and condemns her to endless torment.

"I feel neither good, nor bad. I feel nothing. My only son and husband lie motionless in the cold earth of the cemetery... and here I am within these four walls,"

whispers Grandma Lamara barely audibly, wiping her dry eyes.  Not a single tear has been left in 17 years - she’s cried it all out. She cries, crying from within, shrouded in darkness. She wants to die, to be near those she has lost, but death seems to avoid her, and condemns her to endless torment.

"All those I loved lie beneath the sod"

In this world where happiness and sorrow intertwine, there are stories that break the heart and make us reflect on the fragility of human destiny.  Lamara Shelia's story is a story of loneliness and unbearable pain.  Seventeen years ago, Lamara experienced the most devastating loss that a mother can endure - the death of her only son at the age of 23. Cancer, the most ruthless and cruel of diseases, took away the light of her life, leaving behind emptiness and pain.

Lamara: My unfortunate son had so many plans... how he dreamed of starting a family.  He would say to me, "Mom, how many grandchildren will you be able to care for?"  I would reply, "Even ten."  I was an only child myself, and I had only one son... I wanted the family to grow, to keep the lineage going... But with my son gone, it all disappeared.

"I await the day when death will take me... I await the day when I will also lie in the grave next to my son and husband"

- Tell us about your son.  What memories do you have of him?

Lamara:My son was an angel, even though life gave him so little time.  Every time I remember his smile and his warm embrace, my heart breaks with pain.  I dream of hearing his laughter again and spending one more day with him.  That's why I long for death. God says that we will surely meet those we loved.

"My angel is now looking at me from the wall"

- How would you describe your life before facing such great losses?

Lamara:My life was filled with happiness and joy until cancer took my son away from me. I always saw in him light and a future, and his sudden loss left an incurable wound in my heart.

- How did you cope with the loss of your loved ones?  What do you live on?

Lamara: Their deaths turned my life into emptiness. Who am I now? Who needs me? Why am I still alive? My pension barely covers the cost of diapers. They even cut off the electricity due to non-payment. Now I'm waiting for the allowance to pay the bills. I lie here in the darkness. In the morning, my neighbor will come. She will change my diaper, feed me... and then I'll be alone until evening. I don't even have a television to listen to any sounds.

- How do you deal with feelings of loneliness? Do you have friends or relatives that you keep in touch with?

Lamara: I have absolutely no one - no siblings or relatives. I had only one son, and God took him away from me. Only my neighbors take care of me. If they didn't feed me and clean me, I would starve to death and be eaten by dirt. It's been a year since I last got out of bed... A YEAR!  Many people wouldn't do for their own family what my neighbors do for me.  I feel so embarrassed in front of them. I cry, I apologize every time for causing them such discomfort... but what can I do? I can't even go to the toilet on my own, but the diaper needs changing. Their care is the only thing keeping me afloat. I am completely helpless. I died along with my loved ones, and I constantly dream of joining them.

“It's good that my bed is by the window so that someone can hear if I need help. I don't even have a phone”

- What would you like to say to people who also experience deep pain and loneliness?

Lamara: Never be angry with God. Love and wait, someday you will meet your loved ones again.

- What could bring even a little relief to your suffering?

Lamara: If I have a comfortable bed and a pillow and a blanket. If I can hear the sound of the television before the neighbors come over to feed me in the evening. I don't have a refrigerator or a washing machine... oh, what am I talking about. Forgive me, I'm just an old woman.

Today, Lamara Shelia is alone and weakened. She has been lying in bed for a whole year, unable to get up and sit. Every day has become a battle, and even the simplest actions have become insurmountable challenges. The only people who visit her are the neighbors, who come to feed her and change her diapers.  They are her only connection to the world that she can no longer independently experience.

Her kindness and love, which have remained unchanged even during her own grief, deserve admiration.  Everyone who knows Lamara loves her, she attracts warmth and care from people around her.

The life of Lamara Shelia is a story of loss, loneliness, and unspeakable sorrow. Her tears become a loud call to our hearts, reminding us of the importance of support and compassion in this world where so many people suffer in silence.  Perhaps Lamara's story will awaken our emotions and urge us to extend a helping hand to those who experience deep pain and loneliness, so that they can feel that they are never left indifferent and forgotten. And through our actions, we will come closer to God.
