REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

He is an orphan with living parents. Zuriko has been raised by his grandmother since birth.

His mother couldn't, and his father didn't want to take on that responsibility.  So, he ended up alone with his grandmother in a dilapidated house. His mother started a new family, and his father doesn't even show interest in his son... only his grandmother, Marina, remains as his one true family on this earth.  They are always together, sharing the same fears. Ten-year-old Zuriko is afraid that his grandmother might die from her worries, while Grandma Marina fears losing her grandson to hunger, illness, she is afraid that their roof could collapse over their heads.  Neither of them could survive on their own, and even if they could – what’s the point of such life?

“No one loves me except for my Grandma, and I don’t love anyone except for her”

Marina: I don't even know what to worry about more – the fact that the house is falling apart or that my grandson has weak health. If we don't fix the roof, my grandson will be left without a roof over his head. And if we don't seriously address his health issues and something happens to him, then what's the point of having this house?

- There are so many problems, I don't even know where to begin asking you about them. Tell me about Zuriko, why is he with you, where are his parents?  Are they alive?

Marina: More alive than anyone else.  You see, not everyone knows how to be parents. Not all women are born to be mothers.  Not all men understand the essence of fatherhood. When my daughter gave birth to Zura, she was 23.  She didn't know how to take care of him. She could not cope. She didn't understand why he was crying - she did not realize that he needed to be fed, bathed… The baby was frail from birth. He would often struggle to breathe, constantly having difficulties. I can't even remember how many days out of the 10 years we spent in hospitals, fighting for his life. There were days so tough that he would lose consciousness from hunger…

"The roof has collapsed and is leaking - buckets and pots are no longer helping"

- It's clear that you are both a grandmother and a mother to Zuriko, even a father… but don't they communicate with him at all?

Marina: For years, I begged them to maintain contact with their son, but they refused.  My daughter started a new family, and my son-in-law disappeared completely… 2 years ago, I insisted that my daughter meet her son and start communicating with him. Even for a few hours, even just a little bit.  The child should know his mother. I'm still hoping that my daughter's maternal instincts will awaken, because Zuriko is such a sweet and affectionate child. He should love his mother!  And I won't be around forever. There are very young people who pass away… if something happens to me, there should be someone close for the child, right?

Zuriko (10 years old):  I love you, Grandma! You are my light! You are my world! And I don't need anyone else! What I fear the most is when I'm not feeling well, and Grandma starts crying... I'm scared that something will happen to her, and I'll be completely alone. And I don't want to be with others. I only want to be with my Grandma!

"Sometimes I feel so bad that I can't even move. I gasp for air and can't breathe"

What causes you to feel bad?

Zuriko: Sometimes I gasp for air and can't breathe. The doctors say it's asthma. I don't know, I haven't been checked in a while, because my grandmother has absolutely no money. We receive help from her relatives. It gets especially bad after rain. The house becomes so damp; there are even molds growing on the walls.

- Does your roof leak?

Marina: It is not just leaking, it's almost gone. Last year, after heavy snow, the roof started deteriorating.  The roof tiles were falling off, and after each rain, the beams would get damp and crack. I had to put buckets under them.  We had one room where the water leaked the least, and that's where we slept.  But a few months ago, during a heavy rain at night, the roof tiles started falling right into the room. We survived by miracle. If that mass had fallen on us, we wouldn't have survived.

The roof tiles collapsed, beams rotted, the floor is sinking, mold on the walls- How do you live there?  Isn't it dangerous for your lives?

Marina: A few months a friend of mine sheltered us, and one month ago, we moved in with my relatives.  It's been a year, I've repeatedly asked the local administration to repair my roof – they say, ‘It's not budgeted for. Once we have the funds, we'll fix it.' That's how politely they refuse me.

Zuriko: In addition to the roof, my grandmother really needs a washing machine! She won't tell you, she's very shy. She never asks for anything. She gets up at 4 in the morning while I'm still sleeping and goes to work - gathering nuts - to earn money for me to have food.  I know how tough that work is! Not all men can even handle it.

Marina: Unfortunately, this work lasts only a few months. And then hunger comes!

"There's nothing worse in the world than hunger"

- Besides this earning, what other income do you have?

Marina: I'm not of pension age yet. We only receive an allowance – 200 lari. You know, sometimes life can be really tough. We truly know what it's like to experience a fainting spell from hunger!  We've gone through it ourselves many times.

- Oh my God! The more you tell, the scarier it gets.

Marina: Yes, and you can't tell everything... if a person is destined to be unfortunate, it will be so! The house – turned into a killer. My grandson's health – a time bomb He needs good doctors. Because apart from asthma and allergies, he has a curved spine, has difficulty walking, his one leg shorter than the other, and I can't even take him to a doctor – it is incredible. Because of his weak health, he often falls ill, frequently misses school. I worry about that too.

"They say I'm a good boy, but no one needs me besides my grandmother"

- We will certainly sound the alarm!  They will hear you, they will help you!

Marina: I can't believe how much you've taken my pain to heart... you're so caring. I only bothered you about the roof, but you've uncovered so many more problems.  You're right, first and foremost we need to take care of his health, examine and treat him, and then we can deal with the roof.  Let this house go to hell if my Zuriko doesn't have health.  I love him so much, and I wouldn't hesitate to give my life, soul, and heart for him... you know, when he's at school, I miss him so much that I even smell his pillow and shirts... he's my life!  Thanks to my daughter and son-in-law for giving birth to him! What would I do without him?

What are we willing to do for the protection and safety of those we love? How would we feel if our child were in danger? Can we imagine knowing that our loved ones could be buried alive under the collapsed roof of their home? Could we sleep peacefully knowing that tomorrow might not come for our children?

Zuriko is condemned to loneliness.  From birth, he had to learn to live without his mother's support and fatherly care. Grandmother Marina became his only support in the world of shattered hopes. In their world there is no place for joy - there are only fears and hardships.

Now they are your family!  And no one can help better than you can!  I won't shy away from saying this – you are chosen!  You're reading these words for a reason. Few will read them, and even if they do, they may not fully grasp the tragedy of this story.  That's why you are chosen, and we are addressing you!  Become family members to Marina and Zuriko!

If you are willing to visit this family and help them in person, here is their address: Akhmeta, Kistauri village.
