“I really want to have many friends, but the children do not want to play with me. Sometimes they close the door in my face. And I start to feel a tingling in my chest ...” - says ten-year-old Anna-Maria, pointing with her fingers where it tingles. – “Do you know when it also tingles? When I want crunchy treats and my mom has no money to buy them. In the end, this tingling tires me out, and I start feeling sad.” Here she takes a sad pose, and then continues: “Mom said that I am special, I even call myself in a special way - Marikosha! Ma-ri-ko-sha! But I don't want to be special anymore. I wish I had many friends, many toys, and many sweets! Just like other kids!”

I've never been so happy!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Lidia: "Thank you for standing up for my daughter! She needed exactly such friends and protectors"

"I feel happy now, and I've never felt that way before," says our little friend Marikosha. "I felt loved, which I've never felt before."

"For the first time in my life, I had a great birthday. Many children came to celebrate with me.  They hugged me, congratulated me, and I felt like the center of attention all day long. Then, they brought out my cake, and all the kids cheered.  I've never been so happy, never laughed so much in my life. I like coming to the Fund's parties, and I like your friends.  They are very kind, good, and they never hurt anyone."

We warmed this little heart up. Marikosha suffered not only from many illnesses but also from loneliness.

Marikosha, you're such a good girl that you agreed to wear glasses, that you obeyed your mom.

Marikosha: I wear them because I want to myself. I could choose pretty glasses. We went together with my mom, and I chose the shape and color myself. I also wear a hearing aid - you didn't even notice it because it's small. It's modern, it looks like a headphone, and I'm willing to wear it. And I can wear it together with my glasses.

Marikosha: "My left ear 'started working.' If you give me a phone, I'll hear everything!"

  • I didn't notice it, indeed! Does it help?

Marikosha: Well, now I don't have to watch cartoons and listen to music on the highest volume anymore (smiles).

Lidia (mom): Marikosha has a third-degree hearing impairment and has been prescribed a hearing aid since she was 5 years old.  The state was supposed to provide her with a regular hearing aid that is attached behind the ear. But my daughter was insecure and cried because she was bullied at school. And she strictly refused to wear it.

Only thanks to you, I managed to afford something she liked. I found an online store with modern models of hearing aids. I showed my daughter how tiny they are. She said, "I'll wear it."

Marikosha: “I feel okay to wear such a hearing aid. It's tiny, and it looks like headphones"

The same with the glasses. We allowed ourselves such a luxury thanks to you - we chose glasses to my daughter's taste.

Marikosha can't see with her left eye, and her right eye is far-sighted. “If I can't do without glasses, let them be beautiful,” - Marikosha decided

Marikosha: I also wear a back brace now.

  • Is it comfortable?

Marikosha: No, not really. But the doctor said I have to endure it so that my back straightens. I joke that I look a little like a penguin in it (smiles).

Lidia: But it can prevent you from having surgery. Marikosha has a complicated form of scoliosis, and we were even considering surgery. But isn't it better to wear a back brace? Marikosha wears a back brace from morning until 9 pm. She needs to wear it even more, but I feel sorry for her.

"In this brace, I look like a little penguin.  But it straightens my back. Okay, I'll endure it until bedtime"

We also went to the dentist. Marikosha got braces so she could pronounce sounds better and chew properly.

Oh, so much has been done for my daughter's health by the efforts of the Fund. I cannot imagine achieving this on my own. And you have taken care of our various needs, improving different aspects of our lives: health, household, food.

Marikosha: And my mood!  Thank you for making my birthday special. I really enjoyed dancing at the entertainment center, laughing, and being captured on video. I also enjoyed going to "Waikiki" with my mom and choosing beautiful dresses there. And also, the friends of the Fund wrote on Facebook that I am beautiful.

- You are beautiful and wonderful!

Marikosha: Guests came to visit us and brought us presents. A very kind aunt Eka came with her son. She gave me a new school bag, books, and things for school. We took pictures together and had a good conversation. One guest gave me beautiful leggings, blouses, and a small bag as a gift.  And she said, "wear them in good health and happiness" and kissed me.

The readers wrote on Facebook that I am beautiful and cute. I believe them

Lidia: Thank you all for your love, attention, support, and for the warmth of your hearts. Thank you for standing by my daughter's side and showing her care she has been waiting for with all her heart.  Thank you for giving her confidence.  She no longer feels ashamed to wear glasses to school. She needed exactly such friends and defenders that we found in the Fund.

Whenever a problem arose (and we had many, as you know), I immediately called the Fund. For example, the psychologist told us that my daughter and I shouldn't sleep in the same bed. She's a big girl and has health problems. But what could we do? We didn't have another bed. But the readers purchased us a luxurious couch so that Marikosha and I could sleep like royalty, each on our own bed.

Marikosha: We switch places, sometimes I sleep on the couch, sometimes my mom does.

"Readers bought us a luxurious couch. We sleep like royalty!"

Lidia: I asked for an electric heater for our home since our gas bill was very high, and I have a subsidy for electricity. The readers helped us solve this problem. Marikosha and I spent the entire winter in comfort and warmth.

- By the way, Lidia, did the local authorities take on helping you with any problem at all?

Lidia: They didn't even think about it. Why would they take on new responsibilities? The district administration pays for our rented apartment, and we're grateful for that.  I want us to be recognized as homeless (I applied where necessary).  In this case, we're entitled to our own housing after a couple of years.  But it's all just a dream...

- Marikosha went through examinations and consultations related to her growth problem.  What did you manage to find out?

Lidia: We had an MRI of her brain, everything is okay, so that cause is ruled out.  We also had countless tests and examinations that will bring us closer to the answer.  All these examinations cost so much money - I could never afford it alone, and I'm infinitely grateful to the readers of the Fund.

During the examinations, I learned some news that left me at a loss. The radiologist said that Marikosha is presumably missing one kidney. It was a new blow for me. I haven't told the child anything yet. But it's better for us to know the truth than not to know it. Right now, we are being sent for an MRI of the abdomen and pelvis. I'm afraid to think about how much all this will cost.

- What's too difficult for you alone, we can solve together, you know that.

Lidia: God bless you all! I feel it all the time, and this hope doesn't let me get lost or fall into despair.

"You are the best friends for Marikosha!  Only with you did she thaw from the hurt and open her heart to joy. Only with you did she first experience happiness (because at school, unfortunately, everything remains the same).  Our Marikosha is facing great challenges again. It is very important to take care of her health.

The Lord himself found you - the most loving, kind, and merciful - for Marikosha.
