The desperate cries of a child echoed from across the road. As a correspondent of the Chernovetskyi Fund, I instantly knew it was Anna. The little girl I was coming to visit for the very first time. The little girl I was coming to visit for the very first time. And indeed, when I entered the room, I saw a heartbreaking scene. The child, curled up in pain, looked at me with pleading eyes – begging a “stranger aunt” for help.

On that tragic day – July 7, 2022 – a father of five small children came home empty-handed, unable to earn enough for food. When he opened the door and saw the hungry, expectant eyes of his children, he said nothing. He walked into another room, broke down in tears… and hanged himself. Lord, forgive him… forgive this broken soul! There is no greater agony for a loving parent than seeing their children go hungry. Let us pray together that the Almighty will forgive His servant.
