This is 12-year-old Saba. When I, a journalist from the Chernovetskyi Fund, spoke with this young boy, I was struck by his intelligence.

This is the Devnosadze family. Their seriously ill mother and father would give their lives just so their children would not go hungry or freeze.

After coming home from school, Saba chops firewood in the same clothes he wore to school – because the poor child has nothing else to wear.

Now even the firewood has run out. Which means they cannot heat water on the stove. So 18-month-old Elene has to wash her tiny fingers and face with icy water.

These dry planks are the “roof” of their home.

It would take only a slightly stronger gust of wind for these little angels to end up buried beneath those planks.
