Thirteen-year-old Mariam can neither talk nor walk. And thank God she doesn’t understand that – without exaggeration – any day could be her last.  Only God can fully heal her, though what do we in Georgia really know about the world’s latest medical breakthroughs? Still, everyone at the Fund will now be searching for a miracle. But so that this beautiful child doesn’t die from something accidental, the family needs many simple household aids and basic items. They need our help.

Beka desperately wants to live! Check your pulse – and do it every day. We at the Fund will feel more at ease knowing you’re watching your heart rate, friends. If your heart rate is above 120 beats per minute, please see a doctor. Beka’s heart rate reaches 214 beats per minute. It’s almost impossible to imagine, and he lives every minute as if it could be his last. His condition affects only about one person in a million – but does that make it any easier for compassionate people like us? A disease that is found in only one person out of a million has been diagnosed in our fellow countryman, 26-year-old Beka. If a normal resting heart rate is 60–100 beats per minute, Beka’s reaches 214. For 13 years he has not left his dark room.
