I don’t know what Tamar told her daughter about my visit – but the moment I saw Sophie’s smile and heard her welcome, all I wanted was to give everything I had to these two lonely, suffering women.

A mother, exhausted by cancer and her poor little boy felt the power of true compassion for the first time. Dear friends of the Fund, you not only brought joy through long-awaited gifts for this abandoned family, but you gave them the most precious things of all – faith and hope for the future.

Stage III lung cancer is one of the hardest to treat. “I really want some noodle soup! Will you share some with me, ma’am?” – and that’s all the 11-year-old boy asks for. A child who has no childhood, no food, no clothes – and no reason to believe in tomorrow. Because his mother is dying from Stage III lung cancer.
