REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

These aren’t the words of an elderly woman. They are whispered, through tears and trembling lips, by 23-year-old Mariam, looking straight into the camera.

Hearing this from a young woman – who should be trying on wedding dresses, laughing with friends, building her future – is unbearable.  It’s unfair.  It’s cruel.  It’s heartbreaking. No one should be waiting for death at this age.

Mariam is 23. At an age when others are getting married, building careers, and start new life. all she needs – is a single ticket to Germany – to stay alive.

This is what I looked like just yesterday…

Left: Mariam before her condition worsened.  Right: her current appearance.

Now, she can’t even make it to the kitchen. She can’t stand, can’t move without her mother’s help. Every movement is pain and the fear of dying. One wrong move – and it could all end.  Every thought is consumed by one question: How much time does she have left?

Mariam has a severe condition: Arteriovenous malformation. It’s a congenital vascular defect where arteries and veins connect abnormally, bypassing the capillaries.

Since the age of eight, it’s felt like her body was thrown into a grinder – swelling, ruptures, clots, bleeding gums, constant fear… fear that never leaves.

Today she is still alive. But without continued treatment, tomorrow may never come.

“I just want to live… not for anything grand.  Just to breathe without pain. Just to step outside. Just to live one more day… It’s so unfair…to be so hopeless.

Do you know what it’s like to not have the money to save your own life?”  says Mariam, through tears. Not for show, but for real. Because someone who already said goodbye to life once – doesn’t want to do it again.

She’s had 10 vein surgeries since the age of 8. The last was in August 2024, to remove clots and aneurysms from her legs. She is on permanent medication, including ones for her thyroid gland – without which she risks developing cancer of the reproductive organs.

In August 2024, she spent 1.5 months in Germany. Doctors there insist she needs ongoing vascular cleaning and medication.  Alas, such procedures are not available in Georgia.

The Ministry of Health and the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office covered around $10,000 USD for her last surgery in 2024. But now their funding limit has been reached – so Mariam won’t receive any new state support until a full year passes from the previous funding date.

But Mari doesn’t have that long. She must be back in Germany by September 8 for her next surgery. If she can’t raise the funds in time, the hospital will refuse her surgery.

Her mother – 50-year-old Lia- is always by her side.    She has diabetes and is nearly blind in one eye. But every day, she holds her daughter’s hand. Every night, she listens to make sure Mariam is still breathing.

“If I could take her place – I would. “I can’t help her – with money or with strength,” Lia whispers, burying her face in her hands. She doesn’t know how they’ll survive if the money isn’t raised.

Mariam’s father doesn’t live with them. He offers no help. No financial support.  Mariam and her mother live in someone else’s home. Nothing belongs to them.  Their total income is 100 GEL in social allowance and 300 GEL disability pension.

Lia: “Sometimes I have to choose between buying food or medicine…

I never say this to Mari… But my heart is shattered. I can’t work – I can’t leave her alone… When she was doing a little better, I worked as a cleaner…  But now I can’t leave her side.”

They’ve sold everything they could.  They’ve asked for everything they could ask for. They raised 700 GEL on Facebook – just enough for tests and document translations. But they need €34,000 for the next round of treatment in Germany.

Mariam has already been through hell. She’s fought for 15 years. But she can’t fight this alone anymore. She needs treatment. If she doesn’t get it, everything that’s already been done will be in vain.

Mariam dreams of becoming a photographer. She wants to study photography.

Kind-hearted people, please give her a chance to beat this disease.

This isn’t a story about poverty. This is a story about a young woman whose youth was stolen – but who still wants to live.  She’s looking at us from the screen saying: “Help me! I’ve tried so hard to stay strong.  But I can’t go on without you…”

If you’ve read this far, it means you care. And that means – you can help save her. Give her that one chance. Just one. Because without us – she has none.  Death is waiting. But we have the chance to stop it – right now.

If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tbilisi, 38 Gvazaurikhevi.

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
