“I thank God that he saved my children”

Cerebral palsy, heart disease, bladder problems torment Marina's two sons. But mom doesn't give up!

Mom: Doctors say my children will die!  But how do they know that when there is God?!  God gave a soul to all living things! So, my kids have it too! And only the Lord knows what will happen to them! All the beauty of this world is in their eyes!

Marina has two blue-eyed angels - David and Demetre. You just can't stop looking into their eyes. It is as if the world of angels has appeared! These children are beautiful! Should those eyes cry that much?! But their ailments bother and hurt them! 

Demetre touches his head with his hand - some boo-boo inside of his head bothers him again. And he puts another hand on his chest, there is another boo-boo. He can't take it anymore and starts crying. His brother David is also ill, his ailments are even more dangerous. They cry and scream together, complaining to their mother.

 Marina is shaking all over. The entire apartment building hears the twins crying. But she does not complain to the Lord, she is grateful that her children survived. No matter they have cerebral palsy, pathology of the heart and breathing. No matter they won’t be able to walk, talk, eat, no matter they do not understand the words of their mother - they are alive, they are with her, and not in the cold earth. Marina promised to endure any trials: poverty, illness, suffering for this. This devoted mother endures everything, together with the entire Diasamidze family. Help the twins!

- I somehow put them to sleep for half an hour, - says Marina. - We'll talk during this time. None of the sedatives help them. We don’t sleep at all at night, our neighbors don’t sleep either. I'm no different from a madwoman, I don't even have one small nerve left.

Marina:

- In the last six months it has become worse - they are crying non-stop. If the doctors had paid attention to me in time, if they had made a C-section for me, we would not be in such a situation now.

Sedatives do not help David and Demetre

I gave birth to my three children - Temuri, Lizi and Gocha without any problems. But when I was 7-month pregnant with the twins, I started having problems with my kidneys. They operated on me, put a stent in one kidney so that the urine would not stagnate. I couldn't walk at all. I was not nervous for myself, but for my babies - I did not want them to be affected in any way. They examined me at the Tatishvili clinic and said everything was fine with them. They showed me the brain, the heart - everything developed properly.

Marina has five children

I am not the healthiest woman, but still, I could give birth to healthy children. When an ambulance brings a woman in labor like me, with a stent in her kidney, with a premature birth, the doctors should worry a little, should not they? I told them that I was losing consciousness from pain, that the children needed to be saved, but they just waited for me to give birth on my own. I have already given birth to three. This was not an ordinary labor pain, it was hell! My kidneys were exploding! The brain of my kids was dying at that moment! If I had had a С-section on time, my kids would not be disabled now! (Cries).

I gave a birth somehow. But my both children were in critical condition. They had acute asphyxia, cerebral hemorrhage... That made the doctors call the Center for Disaster Medicine, and they urgently took the babies to Tbilisi.

Despite it was the doctor’s fault, but she still said about David (he was in worse condition than Demetre): “Why do you need a sick child? What are you going to do with him?” I had no idea how to protect myself from this nightmare. I could barely stand on my feet after giving birth and shouted to her: "What do you mean why?! He is my baby! I need him, no matter he is sick or no!”

They suggested to Marina to give up this wonderful boy!

- Yes. I thank God for saving him. David was all swollen when they took him to Tbilisi. All his organs were enlarged. You could feel the liver, kidneys with your hand ... It was so scary. He was twitching all the time. I went to church and promised God: “God, please save him and I promise to stand the most difficult trials my whole life.”

 My twin boys have multiple diseases: cerebral palsy, poor blood clotting, problems with heart, bladder ... The brain of David is half dead. Demetre is suspected of having hydrocephalus. That's why my poor boy touches his head all the time. Fluid collects in his head and presses on everything.

Demetre can at least play with his brothers and sister, she crawls to me when I call him. David does not understand anything at all, he sees very poorly. He is closed.

 The twins don't know how to play. They don't understand a lot

All together we try to reassure David and Demetre. At night, my husband and I take turns looking after them because one person cannot stand such a rhythm. I have a goiter, my blood pressure is 250... I wonder why neighbors haven't kicked us out yet. They don’t complain, but they tell us that they have a migraine, and “we must find some way out.” We disturb them greatly with our crying and screaming.

Temuri: “When twins feel bad, they don’t want anyone”

- No, we are renting it. We all live in one room. There is no other way. I stopped communicating with my family several years now.

- It happened that I - a single and sick mother of two, wanted to have support in my life, and dared to get married. I had no doubt in Petre’s sincerity. He appeared in my life when they had just operated on my intestines and put a stoma. I looked terrible, I left my job as a cleaner because of illness, I was nervous about how to keep my children. His care for us - such as buying diapers and food for children, was the most romantic. I saw that he was not afraid of difficulties. We experience a thousand difficulties now, but we support each other. We need to raise five children.

- He has not been working for a month and a half, and we immediately felt that. Several times, my husband lost consciousness and collapsed on the street. He doesn't know when this will happen to him again, and he's nervous. We went to the doctor. We have a new problem now - we need to get tested for epilepsy. 24-hour monitoring costs 500 GEL. I do not know who to treat - our twins, my husband, or myself...

In addition to other diseases, twins have scoliosis

 We are now dependent on the state - that's what I was afraid of. I would not wish any family with children, especially large families, to live on social allowance. With 1000 lari of social allowance and 300 lari allowance for large family, in no case should you get sick. It will be your fault. Unfortunately, this has already happened to us, and we are trying to save ourselves.

- Yes, please help me to get David and Demetre examined medically. We need a geneticist, and a neurologist, we need X-ray of the spine. The twins also have scoliosis. They told us to give them a special formula - Similak NeoSure, but I never gave it. I feed them flour diluted in water. We need food, of course. It is also a big problem. A bread maker would help me a lot.

Gocha, 2.5 years old: “Will you bring me something? Or it is only for twins?”

- It is hard, to be honest. When they feel bad, they do not want anyone, and they chase everyone away. I give them toys, but they get mad and throw them away. And they tremble and cry.

“I will always take care of my brothers”

- I kiss them and stroke them, I say good words, but they don't want me.

Lizi: "I'm sad when babies cry"

- I can't be happy when my brothers are bad.

- I feel sad too. I can't do my homework - I think about them all the time.

- I do! For example, we never have sweets at home. But our neighbors bought me sweets in the store, and my friends gave me change for a Barney biscuit and jellybon. I will also make the poor children happy. I will be a good adult. I'll be a policeman. And I will spend money on my brothers. Mom says they will always need help.

- Temo, and Gocha, and I will grow up. But Dato and Deme will always be like babies. I will always help them too.

There is no joy in the house when the little ones feel bad. You can’t work, you don’t want to do your homework, you don’t have any strength. If the tears of two little angels make us feel so bad, imagine how hard it is for the family! They so much want to help them, to protect them from pain, but they cannot.
