I would tell them how proud I am of them!        - This is a great idea! Maybe anything besides the tablet? Maybe you need a nice tracksuit or sneakers? 

Shalva: I need it - you know, how uncomfortable it is to play football in slippers? You either tear it or fall over ... But a tablet is better!
