The goal of our Fund is to open the hearts of the fund’s friends to the Lord! And the Lord shows us more and more new misfortunes! Thank you, Lord! Because from story to story, we increasingly become the people You intended us to be when You created mankind! Meet Maia! She is a former orphanage resident and she was sheltered by kind people for some time. Maia is 58 years old! She is lonely and deeply, deeply unhappy! And in her old age, she suddenly found herself in the position of a homeless dog! In November 2023, my room burned down in the dorm where I lived, – says Maya- you can’t imagine what it’s like to turn into a homeless dog at my age! Because the local authorities put me in a completely demolished former police station! Fate turned away from her early in her childhood when her parents left her and placed her in an orphanage. Little Maia sat by the window, waiting for her mother to come for her… waiting to be remembered.

Probably, I don’t deserve more. Because I was left by my parents when I was a kid – so, I’ve been homeless since I was a kid.
And this is my lunch! I ate half of it for breakfast! Thanks to the state for not letting me starve to death!
Fate turned away from her early in her childhood when her parents left her and placed her in an orphanage. Little Maia sat by the window, waiting for her mother to come for her… waiting to be remembered.
‘Only the swallows that built a nest above my bed, remind me that I’m still alive…’
‘In this life, I am superfluous… no one needs me… Ever since the local authorities settled me in this ruin, no one cares if I am still alive…! Because, if I die, they will find out about it very, very late!’
“I don’t even have a front door. I cover the doorway with a blanket. This is my bed, during the rain it’s impossible to sleep on it.’
From birth, Maya was left at the maternity hospital by her parents… Then the state relocated her to a shelter for homeless children, then for a short time she lived with kind people who adopted her. And almost in childhood, a married man picked up and warmed her up, promising to marry her, and then abandoned her, leaving her pregnant and penniless!
‘No water, no electricity… I wash up in a basin.’
And doing laundry is a torture.’
– When you brought me here, I couldn’t even imagine that you are living here… how is it possible?
Maia: in winter, dogs would come and warm me up… now swallows have settled in my room. There is no water or electricity here. Do you want me to show you how I live? Look and know that no one is immune to such fate. You are now living in your own home with your loving children, and then they won’t even greet you… Because I have an adult son whom I raised with an extraordinary amount of love! And today he doesn’t want to know me!
– Maia, what do you live on?
Maia: I have no allowance, no pension. Have you ever seen a human who wants to grow old so he can get a pension?
“All the trials of life I try to pass with dignity and not to lose face of a human being! I have addressed the Fund because I felt that soon I wouldn’t be able to live like this anymore.”
“Nobody knows what surprise fate is preparing…
– I don’t understand how you manage to live here…
Maia: I don’t understand, after everything I’ve been through, how I manage to be alive at all. I have asked God many times to take me away… but apparently my time has not come yet. Cold and hunger have become my companions… the only thing I would like to ask of you is to put windows and doors in. And if you can help me with groceries, I’ll be grateful to you for the rest of my life.
“Only God is with me now. Even in these ruins, He does not leave me.”
– Is there anything else you need?
Maia: I can’t ask for anything…I don’t have electricity to ask for a refrigerator, and I don’t have water. Installing water piping for me or setting up a bathroom would probably be very expensive. So I’ve only asked for things I can’t survive without. I survived this winter, I won’t survive another.
– Is there anything you would like to say to the friends of the Fund!
Maia: I appeal to everyone who reads these words, whatever happens in your life, do not hold a grudge against God! Pray and ask Him for only one thing – that He gives you the strength to live and not to lose the face of a human being. And of course, I really want everyone in Georgia to be happy!
Maia: I take food from the social canteen – I have nothing else to rely on. One kind neighbor brings me a plate of hot food… that’s my whole life. I never thought that a homeless dog would live in better conditions than me. I appeal to everyone who reads these words, whatever happens in your life, do not hold a grudge against God! Pray and ask Him for only one thing – that He gives you the strength to live and not to lose the face of a human being.
There are many heart-stopping stories in the world. Stories of people forgotten by society and abandoned to their fate tell of the harsh realities that can befall each of us. Maya has lived a hard life full of loss and disappointment. Fate has tested her from childhood. Family difficulties, loss of her home, imprisonment on false charges – Maia endured many trials. Even when she had a son, she could not find the long-awaited peace. Housing problems, a difficult relationship with her son and his family, and a fire that left her homeless – all of these only added to her suffering. Maia’s story is a lesson for all of us. We cannot remain indifferent to the troubles of others. Today we can help this woman by giving her some warmth and hope. In the Bible, it is said: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). Let’s show love and care to those who need it most. Let’s help Maya by installing windows and doors in her home, and providing food. May our assistance bring a ray of light into her dark life. We urge all compassionate people to respond to Maia’s pleas. Contribute to ensuring that this unfortunate woman can survive and maintain her dignity.
If you are willing to visit Maia and help her in person, here is her address: Sagarejo, 19 Kakheti Highway, room 123.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.
