A tragedy beyond words! Eight-year-old Asmik suffers in ways that words cannot describe. She cannot walk. She cannot talk. She cannot even eat on her own. Her father abandoned her, and her mother doesn’t have enough money for medicine, diapers, or even food.

Every day, Asmik endures painful procedures and medication. She has never known what it’s like to wake up and simply enjoy a new day without suffering. She is eight years old, yet she still wears diapers.
Marina, mother (32-year-old): “When my daughter was seven months old, I noticed she couldn’t sit up or hold her head. After medical tests, the doctors gave me devastating news—she had severe brain damage. One side of her brain doesn’t function at all, and the other, they said, works at only 20 percent. Why has my little angel met such a sad fate?”
She can’t walk or talk. Asmik cannot even eat on her own. God, this little angel suffers so much!
Marina: “Every meal ends in tears because my daughter cannot chew solid food. And I don’t even have a blender to make her soups and purées.”
Asmik’s tiny body is constantly tense, as if high-voltage electricity is running through her muscles. She cannot relax – not for a single moment. The pain is unbearable. She screams in agony, and the entire village can hear her cries.
This is nine-year-old Aurora – Asmik’s sister. She should be playing with toys, laughing like other children. But instead, her eyes are full of sorrow. Every day, she watches her beloved little sister convulse, her head jerking back as she falls into fits of pain.
She aches knowing Asmik will never run, never play, never laugh like other children. Games and walks? No, those are not for her.
Both girls are sick right now, burning up with fever. But their mother has no money for medicine. They survive on social allowance and disability pension, which are barely enough for diapers, let alone medication.
Despite her fever, Aurora helps her mother around the house. Who else will? Her mother is all alone, abandoned with two children after their father disappeared the moment he learned of Asmik’s condition. Today, he doesn’t even ask about his own child’s health.
Marina and her daughters are on the brink of homelessness. They have nowhere to go. No money for rent. A kind acquaintance has given them temporary shelter. Temporary. But what happens next is too terrifying to imagine.
Friends, if we all come together, we can buy a small home for Marina and her daughters. We cannot let them end up on the street! Not now, not ever!

When I, a journalist of the Fund, led little Aurora into a “strange house,” I told her a white lie – that we were just going to visit someone. No “owner” came out to greet us, and I could see she was getting upset.
Aurora: “Auntie, it seems the owner isn’t glad we came, that’s why they’re not coming outside. My mom and I should go… I feel uncomfortable.”
The Fund’s journalist: “You’re right, Aurora, the owner isn’t coming out. And do you know why? Because there’s no one here. From today on, you are “The Little Lady of the Big House”, Aurora.”.
At that moment, it felt like you could hear her heartbeat from afar. God, how powerful and moving that moment was!
Look at little Aurora – her eyes shine brighter than the stars today.
Look – she was so happy she even started dancing.
It may be hard to believe, but these photos show the same girl, just one year apart. On the right – a homeless child. On the left – that same girl, who has just learned she will never sleep under the open sky again.
And this is Aurora’s sister, who has been seriously ill since birth. Dear friends, thanks to your care, this little angel received the medical help she needed, and now she is free from unbearable suffering.
But of course, the cruel illness has not disappeared. Until recently, a poor single mother with her sick child and Aurora had to live under the open sky. But tonight, for the first time, they will sleep in peace. Because now they have a home. The children have their own rooms, and their mother will be bustling about in the big kitchen.
There is also a big yard where the children will play.
The happiness of the Gigauri family was also shared by this kind elderly woman, who is now their neighbor.
Sadly, she has no children or grandchildren. So, from today on, Aurora and her sister will become her grandchildren.
