“Mama, please don’t die…”

“Mama, please don’t die…” 

These are the words 45-year-old Gocha repeats every day as he sits beside his mother’s bed. 

66-year-old Makvala is battling aggressive cancer.

She is almost unable to get out of bed now.  

Makvala, 66-year-old: “I want to live for my children so much… Please save me,” Makvala whispers, looking into my eyes as if speaking to every compassionate person in Georgia. “I was always kind to people, but today I cannot even rise from my bed anymore. I am so scared…”  

Even after a major surgery, the tumor continues to grow. Metastases. Constant fever. Extreme weakness. Pain.  

For 18 years, Makvala taught children at school. Later she worked as a cook, feeding others.

Now she cannot even afford her own medicine. 

The family has already sold everything they could.
They mortgaged their home to pay for treatment.
Every month brings new loans, new debts, and the terrifying fear of not having enough time to save their mother.

The state covers chemotherapy.

But not analyses and medications.

And without them, the cancer will win very quickly.

Right now, Makvala urgently needs medication and medical examinations simply to continue living beside her children.
