When a mother loses her child, her heart dies with them. Her life comes to an end, and only prayers to the Almighty keep her on this Earth—prayers filled with the desperate hope that the Lord will return her beloved child and let her hold them close once again. And this time—forever!

For millennia, humanity has failed to invent a word that could fully capture the pain of a mother whose child has passed away.

73-year-old Mzia, a kind and warm-hearted woman, lost her son and then both of her grandsons. The stress and grief took a cruel toll on her body – colon cancer crept up on the poor elderly woman. Tragedy never comes alone!

This is 73-year-old grandmother Mzia. She has been diagnosed with rectal cancer. Her intestines are exposed, protruding painfully from her body.

The elderly woman suffers from excruciating pain every day. With her own hands, she treats her wound, wiping away the fluids that constantly seep from it. She doesn’t even have a single extra tetri to buy special wound-cleaning solution or medical dressings. She has almost given up hope, fearing that without proper bandages and medication, she will inevitably die from a severe infection and sepsis.

This cruel illness developed as a result of unbearable grief.

Mzia (73 years old): “My dear (she addresses the foundation’s correspondent), I am a woman crushed by life. What is the meaning of life for a mother who has lost her child? The only reason I don’t consider ending my life is the fear that I wouldn’t be able to reunite with my son and grandsons in heaven. So I patiently wait for the day when I leave this world forever. I am in terrible pain. I had surgery on my rectum, but after the operation, I need constant medical consultations, rehabilitation, medication, and daily wound care – but I have no means to afford any of it. Fluid seeps from my wound every half an hour – imagine how many dressings I need! Sometimes, I just press a cloth against it… But what else can I do? “

True beauty never fades in kind-hearted people! Eight-year-old Yakov, raised by his grandmother, kisses her with love, not fully understanding the tragedy unfolding before him.

Everyone in the neighborhood loves the elderly woman and her little grandson. And you, dear friends, will love them too – once you read their story and get to know them!

Yakov loves his grandmother more than anything in the world. Ever since she was diagnosed with this cruel disease, the boy has fallen into a deep depression. He no longer wants to play, and the smile has vanished from his beautiful face.

Yakov does his best to act like an adult.

He is not ashamed of household chores. He washes the dishes and cooks macaroni.

And when there are only 300 grams of macaroni left at home, the child naively tricks his grandmother, telling her that he’s not hungry.

My God, what a brave young boy is growing up in our great homeland!

A child lies to his grandmother that he is not hungry.

The poor woman cannot lift anything heavier than two kilograms, yet she still gathers firewood so that her grandson wakes up to a warm room in the morning. That’s how grandmothers are—they would give their lives for their grandchildren. Nothing in this world compares to the love between a grandmother and her grandson.

Mzia: “What worries me the most is my poor grandson. He is only eight years old, yet his heart is already heavy with sorrow. How can my poor boy endure such poverty? My heart breaks when I see him eating nothing but dry bread and shivering from the cold. My only hope is in kind-hearted people who will take our plight to heart.”

In her youth, Mzia could never have imagined the cruel fate that awaited her.

The house where the grandmother and grandson live is in terrible condition. The damp walls poison their bodies with mold and mildew. There is no bathroom, no bed, no table. Just a dark, empty space, old belongings scattered across the rotting floor, broken windows, and fear… Yes, only fear and hopelessness reign here.

Yakov: “I love my grandmother so much, and it breaks my heart to see her like this, knowing that I can’t help her. If I were older, I would work and spend all my salary on buying her medicine and food. Both Grandma and I love meat, but it’s so expensive—we can’t afford it. We can’t even buy fish. In summer, I sometimes go fishing with the older boys. I dig up worms to use as bait and give them to the older kids. Then they let me fish with them, and sometimes they give me a fish. I hope it warms up soon so we can go fishing again.”

Kind people, Mzia and little Yakov – this small, suffering family – have only one hope left: us. They have asked for nothing, but my own eyes (as a correspondent) saw everything. I hid my tears as I witnessed this heartbreaking reality! One thing is clear: This poor woman desperately needs hygiene products

and medicine. And eight-year-old Yakov needs food, clothes, and a bed. Remember, in the Parunashvili household, there is no furniture, no household appliances.

Friends of the Fund have experienced firsthand that the world works like a boomerang… And in our Fund, we believe that the Lord’s boomerang is blessing! May you be happy and remember: Every tetri you donate is not only crucial for this poor little family, but for all of us! God always gives us the chance to show the best in ourselves. Great is the Lord!
