One look into her eyes is enough to make your whole body tremble. It is a gaze that chills the blood. The last time she ate was two days ago. Today, all she had was a piece of bread. Instead of milk, she drank water. God, this is worse than a nightmare! A child, weakened by cold and hunger, no longer even has the strength to cry.

Exhausted, she couldn’t stand any longer, so she rested her head on her mother’s shoulder and wiped her bitter tears on her mother’s faded sweater. Look at the pain in the mother’s eyes. This is not just physical suffering – it is a wound deep in her soul.

This is 28-year-old Medea. A young woman who is already a mother of two. And now, God has sent her a third angel from heaven. A child is the greatest gift from God. Yes, Medea is four months pregnant.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

Two-year-old Emily can no longer endure the hunger

A mother, weakened by hunger, turned to the Chernovetskyi Fund for help. And what I am about to tell you, dear reader, will bring tears to your eyes. We, too, cried at the foundation when Medea shared her heartbreaking story.

Medea (28 years old): “When I found out that a new life had begun inside me, I fell to my knees before the icons and wept bitterly. They were tears of joy, but also of great sorrow. ‘How will I feed this child when they are born?’ ‘Where will I take them after leaving the maternity hospital?’ ‘To this collapsing shack, where the ceiling is caving in on us?’ These thoughts raced through my mind, burning my soul.”

Dear friends of the Fund, Medea told us that she used the social allowance money to buy food for her two young children. But recently, the government cut off her allowance, effectively depriving these poor children of their last means of survival. More than hunger, it is the injustice that torments this pregnant woman.

Medea: “My children stare at other people’s food, hoping for a bite of their own, while the government has cut 200 lari from our social allowance – and I don’t even know why. The place where we live is crumbling. When it rains, water pours from the ceiling, and we are left in unbearable conditions. I don’t know how government officials sleep at night while my children dream of a piece of bread, and they take away our last support.”

Whoever made this decision, and whoever approved it – I am sure that this article will reach you. And I, a correspondent of the Fund, am addressing you – do not look away.
Look at the photos we took today of this family. See the state these poor siblings are in. Then, search your heart and answer honestly: ‘Did these children really deserve to have their social allowance cut off?’

Four-year-old Emir was dipping big pieces of bread into the food that a kind neighbor had brought. (This neighbor also has hungry children but still shared what little she had with the Markoidze children.) As soon as the sleeping boy smelled food, he immediately jumped out of bed… (What happened next is captured in the photos.)

Look at the joy on his face when he sees bread and food

Emily, too, received some food. It wasn’t milk or porridge, but for a starving child, that doesn’t matter. What matters is that it was food.

After eating, her eyes became clearer

After eating, she felt sleepy. But the house has no proper bed – not for a child, not even for an animal. So, the little girl fell asleep on a piece of construction laminate laid out in the yard. No, this isn’t just misery. It is far worse than misery!

Emir, four years old, wants to play. His bicycle looks like it was pulled from a landfill. The only place for him to play is the muddy, pothole-ridden area surrounding the shacks. This is what they call ‘Dream City’ in Khelvachauri. This is where a great tragedy recently occurred—one that shook all of Georgia.

Yes, in this very area, two boys, the same age as Emir, fell into an open well filled with murky water. Both children died a horrific death. Two young lives, lost too soon…

Both were from poor families.
And still, no one has been held accountable. Why was there an open well in an area where children live and play? Did covering it require such an enormous sum that the local authorities couldn’t ‘find’ it in the budget? May God grant His Kingdom to those poor children—full of life but sacrificed to indifference and negligence.

Look at Emir’s torn pants and worn-out shoes. He has no jacket. His only ‘warm’ clothing is a faded sweater.

The tears of this little girl, living in extreme poverty, will break your heart. No child should cry from hunger or cold!

Kind-hearted people, we at the Fund are certain that you will not remain indifferent to this poor child’s tears. You will stand with us to provide food, clothing, warm blankets, and bedding for these children and their pregnant mother. A pregnant woman sleeps on a broken, rusty iron bed. The roof is so damaged that rain pours down on her and her children as they sleep.

Should any child have to wear such torn, threadbare tights? But what can a poor mother do? How can she buy clothes for her child when she cannot even afford the vitamins she desperately needs during pregnancy?

Looking at these ruins, one might think a child wandered here while playing in an abandoned lot far from home. But you would be wrong, dear friends. These ruins are the children’s backyard. Yes, this is where the little girl and her brother wake up every morning. At any moment, a tragedy could strike—the house could collapse, trapping them beneath the debris.

What is this poor child thinking about so deeply?

That ragged teddy bear is her ‘friend.’ So old, so worn… But still, a faithful friend

Emir saw a child on the street drinking juice through a straw. He, too, wanted some juice. But he had neither juice nor a straw. So he improvised – sticking a twig into his mouth, pretending to drink through a straw. Oh God… oh God…

Should a 28-year-old mother of two, expecting her third child, have to suffer like this? Where is justice? How much pain is in this mother’s eyes… How much despair…

This tattered, thin clothing is the only winter outfit the Markoidze family owns

In their dark, damp shack, it is freezing cold because they have no gas or wood stove. So, the little girl warms her beautiful face in the rays of the March sun.

Brother and sister share their warmth and love with each other. God bless and protect these poor children

She doesn’t understand why other children ride bicycles while hers is broken beyond repair

No, this is not a spoiled child’s tantrum. It is the desperate cry of a child who can no longer endure such inhumane conditions. The little girl has caught a cold – she has a fever, a runny nose, and a cough. And her poor mother has no money for medicine.

A boy, living in a dilapidated hut on the grounds of an old barracks, watches the newly built high-rise apartments near his home and dreams of living there himself. He watches from afar as well-dressed children play near the building, not daring to approach them. God, how much sorrow is in this one scene!

The angelic little girl’s face is wet with tears

Her eyes seem to accuse us all—do we really begrudge food and clothing for a four-year-old boy?

Beyond the windows stand poor children and a pregnant mother, forgotten by everyone. They gaze out so longingly, as if they still have hope. Hope for something. Hope for someone.

And that ‘someone’ is you, kind-hearted people. Let us extend a helping hand to the Markoidze family – a family that will soon welcome their third little angel.

Can we really allow rain to pour down on a newborn child? Even one lari that you donate will make a huge difference in repairing the roof of their shack. They have nowhere else to go. They are completely alone in this world. Remember, the universe operates on the principle of a boomerang. Nothing disappears without a trace…

No one knows what tomorrow will bring. Life is like a staircase – sometimes we climb high, and sometimes we are forced to descend. May you never have to see hunger and cold in your own children’s eyes.
But none of us know what lies ahead. So help today’s ‘strangers’ in need, and the Lord will return your kindness a hundredfold when your own children face life’s hardest trials.
