Luka is just one week old. The baby cries endlessly from hunger. He doesn’t get enough milk, but his parents have nothing to feed him with—they are too poor to buy baby formula. It’s hard to understand someone else’s pain if you’ve never experienced anything like it yourself. Think about it! What if, God forbid, it were your children starving?  How would it feel to see your little son or daughter crying from hunger? The only food in their home is bread brought from a free canteen. But should this be the diet of a breastfeeding mother and her children?

Friends, tragedy has struck a Georgian family—the Kvinikadzes. A sudden fire engulfed their home. The desperate cries of the children— “Help us!” —seemed to reach the heavens. Maybe they truly did. Because somehow, miraculously, the children were saved from being consumed by the flames. But little Nikoloz, just two years old, still bears the scars of the fire on his legs. Local authorities promised to help rebuild the hous next to the ruins, but the family has lost all hope. And you might be wondering—why? Why have they lost faith that the state will keep its word? Because after losing everything, the family turned to local authorities for urgent aid – just 1,500 GEL to help them get by. They were promised this amount, but they are still waiting. And so, they have no reason to believe that help will come. Their only hope now is you. To be fair, the Gori local government has been covering the rent for the seven-member family, who are temporarily living in a cramped two-room apartment. But for how long? And how can these children continue  living in such conditions? Even if you donate just one lari, it will bring these little angels one step closer to having a home again – no matter how small.
Georgia must come together! If each of us contributes enough for just one brick, these children will no longer be homeless. And this kindness it will come back to you, to your children, to your grandchildren, in ways only God can know.

This is three-year-old Giorgi. The child is hungry, and the only food in the house is one piece of bread. The starving boy started to eat the bread eagerly but then stopped. His big blue eyes looked up at the foundation’s correspondent, and timidly, he offered her the only piece he had, saying: “Auntie, you must be hungry too.  Please, eat.” This kind boy’s clothes are so worn out that even a dump might have better options. The boy is sick, running a high fever, and has the flu. But his single mother cannot afford to buy medicine due to extreme poverty. The child can no longer bear the hardship, illness, and suffering, and so he cries bitterly. Look into his eyes, even for a moment! Do you think this is a scene from a dramatic movie? It’s not. No actor could ever portray the pain in the eyes of this little angel. And yet, he’s only three years old.

Just look at these poor brothers. There is so much sadness in their kind eyes… At first, they were shy when they saw a stranger—the Fund’s correspondent. But then, perhaps, their little hearts sensed that this “strange lady” had come to tell their story to all of Georgia.

And so, every day in the Merabishvili family begins and ends the same way. For “lunch,” there is only bread and tea. And sometimes… juice. That happens when their father’s “” daily income is high and reaches 15 GEL. That’s about five dollars. Imagine, my friends, a man who carries heavy sacks all day just to earn five dollars—enough to bring home bread for his children, half a kilo of pasta, and, on rare occasions, some juice or a cheap candy to make them smile.

Instead of porridge, this poor father gives his hungry child tea. At 40 years old, this young man is broken inside. He has already undergone two surgeries on his leg due to blood clots. He still needs medicine and medical care, but this heroic father cannot afford to spend a single lari on himself. Every last coin goes toward diapers for two-year-old David.

When a three-year-old little angel saw the Fund reporter, he placed his tiny hand on his throat as if begging for help. His eyes pleaded: “Save me.” It’s impossible for any human heart to endure such a heartbreaking scene. Three-year-old twins Levan and David stand amidst the ruins of their burned-down home. A true tragedy has struck the Mchedlishvili family. The home where six small children were peacefully sleeping suddenly caught fire. Their mother’s desperate cries echoed to the heavens: “Save my children, Lord!” These little angels would have perished in the flames, leaving not even ashes behind, if not for God’s miracle.Miraculously saved from death, three-year-old twins Levan and David now cling to each other tightly. These poor children have nothing left in the world but the charred remains of their home.

When was the last time you saw something more heartbreaking? A brother and sister – Zaza and Tatia Abazashvili – digging through garbage. Zaza is nine. Tatia is twelve. Yes, these innocent children are looking for their “piece of happiness” in the trash. This is beyond terrible. It’s not just one family’s suffering—it’s a tragedy for all of humanity.

Tatia (12-year-old): “I try to go to the garbage dump when no one can see me because I’m ashamed. But in our village of Chumlaki, everyone already knows that my brother and I search for clothes in the trash. Some kids at school laugh at me.  One classmate, who was seated next to me by our teacher, keeps arguing and begging to be moved to a different desk. ‘I don’t want to sit next to you,’ she says, ‘because you wear clothes you found in the trash.’”

Today was a lucky day for this poor girl. Do you know what made her happy? This torn robe. Someone had thrown it away. When Tatia spotted it, her eyes lit up – because she had nothing to wear this spring.

She put it on right away, standing there next to the dumpster. But does she deserve this? Does any child deserve to live like this?

Look at her, pulling trash bags from the dumpster, rummaging through them, hoping to find something “usable.” Horrific. Absolutely horrific.
