A single match can ignite a great fire. And just one seed of kindness can grow so abundantly that it transforms a desert into a paradise on earth.

The wounds inflicted by poverty have begun to heal for all seven brothers and sisters, but most importantly, they have regained their sense of dignity and pride.

It is hard to believe, but the child in these photographs is the same person. This image alone is enough to show that kindness can give someone a new life and restore the human spirit within them.

When representatives of the Chernovetskyi Fund first visited the Akhvlediani family, these wonderful children could not even look us in the eye. They felt embarrassed that they could not offer a seat on a sofa or even a chair to guests who had travelled all the way from Tbilisi to Samegrelo.  They were also ashamed of their old, worn-out clothes.

Today, stars shine in their eyes.


One month ago
For a mother of seven children, furniture and household appliances seemed like an impossible dream. She could never have imagined that dream would soon become reality.

Larisa, 41 years old, mother of seven: “The words ‘thank you’ are only a drop in the ocean compared to the gratitude and happiness I feel today.


When I first called the Chernovetskyi Fund, I certainly hoped for help from the Fund’s friends, but their kindness and generosity exceeded all my expectations. I pray that God bless every one of you.”
From the Foundation’s journalist: “Friends, you took care not only of the family’s most urgent needs, but also of those childhood dreams that, for the Akhvlediani children, could have come true only in colourful dreams.

You are the kind magicians who can turn dreams that once existed only in children’s imaginations into reality for a family in need.

Monika, 11-year-old: “Is this tablet really for me? My biggest dream has come true. I need to tell my classmates and neighbours right away. I’m so happy I don’t think I’ll be able to wait until tomorrow.” .

Teona, 12-year-old:  “This bicycle is so amazing that I feel like I could ride it all around the world.”


Zhanna, 10-year-old: “For four years I have been writing letters to Santa asking for roller skates, but every New Year’s morning I woke up without presents while other children received theirs.”

Foundation journalist: “Don’t be sad, my dear. Santa can grant children’s wishes only one day a year, but kind fairies can do it any day of the year. And it was they who sent you these roller skates.”


Alex, 4-year-old: “Wow! A car! A remote-controlled car! I’m a cool guy now!”


Friends, please take a close look at this photograph.

On the left, you can see little Alex as he was about a month ago. Look how dim the eyes of this little angel were. And on the right is the same Alex after receiving the gifts he had dreamed of.


I am the photographer who took these pictures as a journalist for the Chernovetskyi Fund, but the author of the smiles on the children’s faces is you, dear friends of the Fund.

One month ago
Imagine how difficult it would be for a struggling family to buy clothes and shoes for all four seasons for seven children. Now that problem has also become a thing of the past.




Beautiful Zhanna, who looks like a princess, used to wear old clothes. Today she has lovely dresses and sundresses. Her sea-coloured eyes now truly sparkle with joy like the sea itself.

Four-year-old Alex liked his new trousers and T-shirts so much that he immediately began posing for the camera.

Just look at him. His photograph could easily appear on an advertising billboard. Who knows? Perhaps these photos will even earn him an invitation from a children’s clothing brand. Why not?

Friends, although you have already transformed the life of the Akhvlediani family and helped them walk proudly once again, some problems still remain.

The wooden doors and windows of their house, which are more than one hundred years old, have deteriorated, rotted, warped, and no longer close properly. The children also walk not on a floor, but on cold bare ground.

The family feels embarrassed asking for help a second time. They worry that their request may seem ungrateful after everything that has already been done for them. But how could anyone think that after seeing the photographs in this article that reflect their happiness?

Let us come together once again for the Akhvlediani family and help install new windows and doors and lay a proper floor before autumn and winter arrive.
