Ivane cries so bitterly that the walls of this tiny house shake.

To get to the home where little Ivane has been crying for four months, there is only one path – through the cemetery.

A loud, broken cry. This is how one-year-Gabriel crold ies when hunger overpowers sleep.

Nino, 26, holds her son close while trying to “cook” something for him. There is no gas in the house.

But there are three children who need to eat every single day.

Nearby, another little child holds an apple in tiny hands. He eats it as if it were a celebration.

In that moment, you want to ask out loud what is terrifying even to say: does this child even know the taste of meat?

Or is “meat” just a word adults say somewhere far away, in another life?

The father, 30-year-old Ushangi, goes out every day for odd jobs. If he’s lucky, he brings home 20–30 lari.

That money has to feed five people.

So most often, it’s the parents who go hungry so the children can have at least something.

Then there’s Natalie, who is five years old.

She doesn’t yet know that is called poverty.
The little girl doesn’t understand why other kids at kindergarten have dolls, toys, pretty things… and she has nothing.

Every single day. Through the graves – to the cries of children.

Every day spent among the stench of death shortens the lives of both children and adults. We have never seen anything like this before. We sincerely hope that local authorities – and of course, we ourselves – can move this family far away from death.
