"If I die today, my grandson will die tomorrow, or maybe he will be buried alive with me, because nobody wants him but me! Nobody wants him... his mother left him, and his father left him. They left their sick child and found happiness elsewhere" - says Malardo and hides her eyes. She is ashamed for Soso’s mother and the father. Who needs a sick man? And they are still young, they can give birth to new and healthy children!

YOU ARE BRIGHT PEOPLE! I AM CRYING WITH GRATITUDE!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

"Who said that Soso doesn't understand anything at all?  He rejoices in all new things!"

- My disabled grandson has no chance of being healed.  - And this great tragedy will not allow my heart to rest from tears," says 80-year-old grandmother Malardo. - But you have relieved me of the physical suffering to which I am condemned in old age. My old hands and legs, my back, have been relieved of the burden because now we have home appliances and my grandson has an orthopedic bed. Today, I am rejoicing; I have received a great respite from you, so as not to die from unbearable labor.

Soso, who is seriously ill, was abandoned by his parents in his childhood and left in the care of his elderly grandmother.  Now, at the age of 25, the frail grandmother Malardo is completely overwhelmed by poverty, his illness, and a myriad of problems. Your assistance is a breath of fresh air, providing new strength to persevere and not give up.

„Today, I am rejoicing - I have received a great respite from you“

- Most of all, we wanted to relieve you of your suffering. What makes you feel better now, Malardo?

Malardo: I wanted and asked for an orthopedic bed for my Soso, and they brought me so much more... Your social worker noticed and wrote down everything while walking around the house, I suppose. He noticed that I was using the old refrigerator as a cupboard.  And my "field" portable stove, on which I could only make soup and tea.  And the bowl in which I boiled water for tea...

"I wanted an orthopedic bed the most, so that my grandson wouldn't have to sleep hunched over.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

I used to cry all the time because of the firewood. First, I had to go on these aching legs, searching for a cheaper option.  Then, convince someone to deliver it, and then find someone to chop it... I am so relieved that I won't have to go through that ordeal anymore.  Now we have a gas heater, and it will replace the wood-burning stove this winter.

I was afraid that Soso's spine would become curved in the old bed; it was very uncomfortable for him, and he would contort his body.  In this orthopedic bed, I can even sit him up and feed him comfortably. It brings great relief to me and also to Soso.  Even though he doesn't talk, I can see that he feels freer and more at ease lying down. There is no more restlessness; the child straightens out in the bed.

"I can see that my grandson is more comfortable and better in the new bed"

"Look, my grandson will be lying on such beautiful bedding"

You have no idea how much my boy used to dislike shaving. The old razor would scratch his face, leaving wounds and pulling his stubble instead of shaving it. It was painful and unpleasant for him. Now Soso, out of habit, expects torment, but it's no longer the case because you brought me a modern electric shaver. I will be able to trim his hair myself. I just need to figure out how to use the hair clippers.

Both he and I are filled with joy when we look at new things. It's nice to have the house filled up. A refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, meat grinder, electric kettle, blender, tablet... Do you think he doesn't understand?  Oh, he understands very well!  Not all of his senses are dead.  He can feel joy and sadness very keenly.

"Your gifts will ease our difficult life"

"My portable stove was already in very poor condition. You brought a new gas stove just in time!"

"The old refrigerator was nothing more than a cupboard, but now I can store both lunch and groceries in it"

- Malardo, what did like Soso the most?

Malardo: He keeps his tablet and coloring books with him all the time, even sleeps with them. Our neighbor, a tenth grader, will teach me and Soso how to use the tablet. I will play cartoons for him and whatever he wants.

- You are so wonderful and precious!  You continue to learn for the sake of your grandson.

Malardo: Do I have anyone dearer and closer to me?  Does my poor Soso have anyone else in this world? He forces me to live.  His joy is the meaning of my life. Need I say that those who brought him joy are my best friends?! I ask God for all blessings for the readers of the Fund. I wish great happiness for all of you.

- Have you personally met and interacted with any of the Fund's readers?

Malardo: Every day, this old phone received 170-100 messages, and the screen would show "memory full."  I called the neighbor girl to read your text messages, and she conveyed very warm words to me.  But I am very concerned that I couldn't reply by phone or internet. My eyes don't allow it, and I don't have money on my account to make a call back.

I properly thanked those who came to visit us. I remember a woman from Telavi, Maisuradze.  She brought food and wet wipes for my Soso.  There were also readers from Gurjaani.  But I couldn't pay attention to the others because of this out-of-date phone, and I get nervous.

Malardo, don't worry, and do it now.

Malardo: You are very bright people! I feel that you are ready to forget your own problems when you hear about someone else's sorrow!  You deserve the best in the world. I want you to fly with happiness, not just walk. When I was younger, when I could do something, well, when I was a full-fledged member of society, I also tried to help people.  If I couldn't help financially, I would support them with warm words, morally.  I was particularly saddened by orphans, sick, and poor children.

My Soso is also like an orphan, my poor boy, he is disabled. Let my daughter be upset that everyone learned about our terrible life. But Soso is alive!  He needs to eat, drink, he needs conditions. And we were perishing from poverty. I grabbed onto you as a chance to save ourselves. And you are helping us not to die.

Your kindness has touched the depths of my soul. I cry with gratitude.

- You also addressed your daughter in this message...

Malardo: Soso has been living with me for 19 years. And now he's left to die with me. Whether sick or healthy, he should have been with his mother. I do things even when I can't.

- Malardo, did our project have any impact on the local authorities?

Malardo: Your project has brought everyone to life.  Even my former son-in-law, who speaks ill of me.

The authorities were aware of our situation with Soso, but it didn't concern them at all.  Now they have shown a little concern: they offered to provide a bed. But you have already surpassed them.  Then they brought diapers, though they were small in size. We couldn't use them. They took them away and brought proper ones.  To be honest, now we have reached a point where they promised to help us four times a year with 300 lari - with diapers and medication.

And today, thanks to all the kind people in Georgia and, of course, thanks to you, I feel joy. But tomorrow, it is up to God to decide whether I should live or die...

Friends, this family's situation is tragic. The strength of Malardo is not infinite. She constantly needs help. Pray for her in your prayers, and whoever is nearby and can visit - we will tell the whole of Georgia about it.

The family also constantly needs food and medication.  Our care for Malardo is like a respite for her. It allows her to care for her grandson and cope with the burden that is beyond her capabilities.

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.
