Five-year-old Lizzy clutched a piece of stale bread with a death grip.
She's sick, weak, suffering from cerebral palsy, and was born with a cleft lip, but no one can take the last piece of bread from her. It's a matter of life and death. Even Lizzy understands that if she doesn't fight for this morsel of food, she might go hungry for several days.

Tamara: "Don't laugh, but I would say that right now, we're living like kings! At least the kids don't get bit by rats. We had been living in the basement for four years. We couldn't pay the rent or treat Lizi.

- I remember the conditions you lived in. It was a nightmare! Now your living conditions have really improved. Did the state help you?
Tamara: No, just a kind man let us stay here for a very low price. We pay 150 GEL for this house. There is a floor and windows. And beds. And rats don't run around the children like they did back then.

- What's wrong with Lizi?
Tamara: She was born with a cleft lip. Oh, how scared I was!I thought it was fatal.I was still very young myself. But the doctors reassured me and said that this problem could be resolved with surgery.It's her cerebral palsy that we should be concerned about.They told me it's not treatable, and the child would be disabled for life.They even suggested getting rid of her.My husband went to every doctor in Tbilisi with our child, and we spent all our money. We couldn't even afford rent. That's how we ended up homeless with our little sick daughter. Then, an unknown woman, an angel, gave us shelter in her basement.The conditions were terrible there, of course. Dirt, rats, snakes. There were no beds or furniture. But we somehow survived. It was there that Lile and Lela were born.
"We had already come to terms with the fact that our daughter wouldn't be healthy, that she would never be able to walk or talk."
- How did you dare to have children in such conditions?
Tamara: It's all in God's hands! And I have a wonderful husband.He helps me a lot with the children.He comes home tired, and then he spends time with them.Lile's first word was "daddy." The children love him very much. And Giorgi was already born in this house, our long-awaited son!

- How do you manage to raise children in this situation?
Tamara: The most important thing is to have bread at home.We can't think about anything more than that.I am lucky, I have milk, so Giorgi never goes hungry.Lizi can't even cry properly; she's very weak, like a kitten, she just squeaks.Lela is also weak for her age. She doesn't talk, doesn't move, and often falls ill. I can't seem to cure her cold. The most active one is Lile. When she's not hungry, she runs, jumps, and plays with her dolls.

- What is wrong with Lela?Have you taken her to the doctor?
Tamara: No. We don't even have money for transport, let alone medical examinations for the children. That's why we addressed for help. God has blessed me, and I have milk to feed Giorgi. Without it, I don't know how I could have fed him.
"To keep Giorgi and Lile healthy and spare them the fate of their sisters, we urgently need help."
- What do you urgently need right now?
Tamara: Taking the children to the doctor is essential. Diapers and groceries are a must. We also need a small refrigerator and a television so the kids can watch cartoons.I desperately need a washing machine.I can't wash clothes frequently, so the children end up wearing dirty ones. Please help us! I prayed to God, and He heard me. You see, you came to us to save my children!
God has given this family children, and He knows that we will take care of them if the parents cannot.
