One year ago, the convulsions twisted his muscles so much that his leg broke from the tension... can you imagine how he suffers and what pain the little one has to endure! Not every adult could endure it! ! His muscles tense as if they want to break all the bones.
- Poor little one, he suffers so much. Is there any way to alleviate his suffering?
Natia: The only thing my son needs right now is medication, tubes, and, of course, diapers. We sold everything to save his life. Now we live in a rented apartment with three children! And we barely make ends meet.
Ioseb is my martyr. His birth is already a miracle. I was expecting twins. One of them did not develop, and they said Ioseb wouldn't survive. He has had cerebral palsy since birth. However, his condition began to deteriorate when he turned one, and at the age of two, epileptic seizures started. They were so severe that we could barely hold him. We've tried everything for him, but his condition hasn't improved.
But God loves our family! Look at what joy He gave us recently!
Here she is - my latest joy - Ekaterina! But any mother knows that you love all your children equally, and often, you love the sick ones - even more!
We have no one to help us now. My husband works as a painter, but there's not always work! And besides expensive medications for Ioseb to live, we need frequent doctor consultations, and we have no funds at all! Besides Ioseb, I have three more Two sons: 6-year-old Ioane, 3-year-old Ilia, and the long-awaited daughter, Ekaterina, who is only two weeks old. She was born on November 21st.
- Perhaps, you were looking forward to having a girl after three boys.
Natia: Oh, she's an little angel! She brought joy to our home. Among my four children, I pay the most attention to Ioseb!
- How do the children feel about their brother?
Natia: They always caress him, telling him they love him very much." They tell him funny things, play music for him! They love it very, very much! They try to understand him - what he wants, what hurts him...
- Do you love your brother?
Ioane (6 years old): Do you know how he screams sometimes? Our ears start hurting. But he even laughs sometimes. He likes music, so I play it for him. I want him to be healthy like me and my brother, but my mom says he will never be able to walk. And I feel so sorry for him that sometimes I even want to cry when I look at him.
Natia: We try not to neglect the children. But how to choose between candy and medications? Between toys and diapers for Ioseb.
Ioane: I don't ask my mom to buy me toys. I just want a TV that shows cartoons. And also, for myself, I want a cactus that sings.
- Are there such cacti?
Ioane: It's not real, it's a toy! And it doesn't prick. And Ilia wants a Spider-Man costume and a toy, too. He can't talk himself, that’s why I'm telling you that.
- What is Ioseb's condition right now?
Natia: A few years ago, we were told that Ioseb wouldn't live long, that it would be hard, but I didn't think it would be this hard. One year ago, his muscles twisted so much from seizures that his leg broke. Then it happened a few more times. Now we give him medication in the morning and evening. He's been on these pills all his life. Recently, doctors had to put a tube in his stomach. We feed him through a syringe. It's a very challenging process, and sometimes it feels like I'm causing him pain.
- Natia, how we can ease your suffering.
Natia: I'm not asking for anything for myself, only. He needs diapers, medications, feeding tubes... And we also urgently need a doctor's consultation, for which we currently have no funds. And one more very big request... I dream of having a television. Just to distract myself and the children a bit. Ioseb really loves listening to music. He has severe intellectual disability; he can't talk or ask for anything – his only expression is either crying or smiling. When we play music for him, he starts smiling. These are the happiest moments for me and our entire family.
Dear friends, we have an important mission ahead of us – to help the little hero of our story, 8-year-old Ioseb, overcome incredible difficulties caused by his severe condition. His struggle with seizures, breaking his fragile body, requires medications and frequent visits to doctors. The family lacks the means to provide their ailing firstborn with all the vital stuff he needs.
