The agony endured by one-year-old baby Nikoloz is unbearable: abscesses and ulcers caused by a blood infection bleed and itch so severely that it would drive any adult to madness! Let's show compassion for the child! Without financial support, neither he nor his mother can endure this much longer! Urgent medical assistance is crucial! 

"Nicholas's whole body is covered in sores. His skin is cracked, itchy, and bleeding. Exhausted, he is ready to tear his skin off, and when he is not allowed to scratch his wounded body, he cries and screams so much that it breaks my, my sick mother's, and my husband's hearts! - says Mariam, the boy's mother. And all this horror happens just because the doctors made the wrong diagnosis. Such a cute boy! Poor thing almost died during the week he spent in the intensive care unit!"

The second son, 9-year-old Nukri, suffers from abject poverty! Due to lack of money to heat water, the boy's skin on his hands bleeds and cracks. He really, really wants to help his unfortunate mom! Because besides him, there is no one else to help! But how can he do it with such hands? When buying even the cheapest hand cream is impossible - it's not sold without money! 

Mariam (Mom): It hurts me so much to see children suffer because of our financial situation!  But what can I do? Because of my husband's hard work, something happened to his head. We have no money for an MRI. And he's started fainting often. I hope it's not cancer! He needs to get checked. But he won't even think about it until the kids are better. And what if he dies? What will we do then? We have a big family! There's also a sick mom! And the allowance is only enough for cheap groceries! 

 It's impossible to feed five children and at least treat two of them so they don't suffer, as well as mom and husband! And now mom and husband have completely refused any medication, knowing that if I buy them instead of bread for the children, kids will go hungry!

- But how did you live before?

Mariam: Not long ago, my husband and mother were working. We were never wealthy, but always happy! Look how many children we've had!  There was always enough for medicine for the children and food! 

Mariam: Believe me, I would never have reached out to the Fund if misfortune hadn't struck me from all sides!  Now you are our only hope! And it is only your kindness that determines whether we live or suffer and die!!!

Alina (11-year-old): I really want to grow up quickly and start working. Maybe at least I can buy something for the little ones.  They cry so bitterly with hunger sometimes. 

Barbare (5-year-old): When I'm hungry, right here (points to belly) my tummy starts screaming with hunger. I can't remember the last time I ate something tasty. 

Nukri (9-year-old): My mom cries a lot. I have seen her in pain when we ask for food. And she says - be patient just a little longer!

Barbare: I want milk like the neighbors have. Mommy says we don't have money. Why don't we have money for milk? I don't understand.

- How much money do you think it takes to have milk and something good to eat at home?

Barbare: Oh! I don't even know! Probably two hundred a lot of money!

Alina: And I keep thinking, how much money does it take to make someone want to be friends with you?

- Do you think you need money for friendship?

Alina: I know that for sure! I have very few friends - only those who don't pay attention to what I'm wearing. But it's important to others - they say unpleasant things. I used to cry, but now I'm used to it.

- Why do you think this happens?

Nukri: I know! Nobody wants to be friends with the poor. I have nothing. I always ask others to lend me a bicycle... And what can I lend others? Nothing! That's why they're not friends.

- And if you have a bike, do you think people will want to be friends with you?

Nukri: God! If I have a bicycle, I don't want anyone to be friends with me! But I will have a bicycle!

Alina: And I'm dreaming of a tablet. Or a cell phone. It's so frustrating when everyone else has one and you're the only one who doesn't. 

Barbare: I want a doll! A girlfriend doll! I'll be friends with her. I'll name her Tea. And Barbare and Tea will be friends!

Gabriel: Uh, what about me? I want a lot of good things, too! A good car, good food, lots and lots of good food! And cartoons! And a car!

- You mentioned the car before...

Gabriel: I want another one. What if one breaks?

- Mariam, what do you want?

Mariam: Listening to my kids makes my heart bleed. What should I do, how should I go on living? They never told me about their worries, they spared me. But now I see how much they suffer. And it's not just because of hunger. You can do nothing - not everyone is lucky enough to be born into a rich family (crying).

- Mariam, calm down. We will do our best to improve your situation. - What do you need most urgently?

Mariam: We need everything! But food is the most important thing. We also need a washing machine, a refrigerator, beds, clothes and shoes... But how can I ask for more when the children are starving?

In this family, the struggle to survive has become their everyday reality. Parents are facing challenges that wear down their spirits and bodies. They have to come to terms with the fact that their children are experiencing hunger, which breaks their spirit and destroys their health. We've witnessed many children falling seriously ill due to constant lack of food, and now the cost of their treatment is overwhelming. 

This story is a cry for help. In our society, where abundance and luxury are often taken for granted, it's crucial not to overlook those who are suffering from hunger. The hunger of children is a fact that should send shivers down every heart and prompt sympathy. Just because our own children aren't hungry doesn't mean that everything is fine for everyone else.

Take a look around! Let's not allow hunger to turn these wonderful children into embittered citizens.  Otherwise, they may even turn to crime! 

The Bible says: But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? (1 John 3:17)  In these challenging times, when hungry children knock on the doors of our hearts, we, as humans, must open them, offering a helping hand.
