I do not ask for myself because this is not life!  But why should people I love so much suffer with me?! God help me!!! When 46-year-old Ramaz begins to sob like a child, from unbearable gnawing mental pain, only his younger brother Revaz can calm him down. For 14 years now, Revaz has been not only a brother for Ramaz, but also his arms, legs, and the only support.
The once healthy, full of strength and energy young family man Ramaz Lomidze has become, in his words, a "burden" for the whole family. And he keeps thinking about how good it would be if he had not survived that tragic day.
It scares me to think about the plight of Ramaz, who is completely crushed by his helplessness and overwhelmed by sadness
Ramaz: No one will ever believe that in one moment, you can lose everything. That you can become permanently disabled... In 2009, on the 1st of July, I went to help my friend - we had to load an iron swing onto a truck and take it to the children living nearby When the car was already on the move, I held the structure with my hands, and then its upper part caught on a metal support for a grapevine, and the irreparable happened - the swing fell off the truck and dragged me along.
- Do you remember what happened after that?
Ramaz: I felt my head hit the ground, everything went dark, I heard the screams of people, it became hard to breathe, it seemed that I was dying. Do you know what it felt like? As if death was creeping in through the toes and moving upward. My whole body is paralyzed, my spine and cervical vertebrae are broken, my spinal cord is damaged, my neck almost does not move, I can hardly move my fingers, but my biggest torment is bedsores. Every half hour or hour I call my brother to turn me over from one side to the other. It’s so embarrassing. It's so humiliating.
His every breath is a desperate cry for salvation, his every moan is a plea for help!
- Did them take you to the hospital immediately?
Ramaz: Yes. Doctors fought for my life for a long time. I was so young - I was only 32 years old. My body was strong. One surgery followed another, but no one could guarantee I would survive - my injury was severe. When I came out of the coma, the doctors told me that my mother’s prayer had worked a miracle. My poor mother all this time was on her knees praying to the Mother of God. So, I survived. But now my life is called - "life without the right to move" ...
- Probably you need a lot of medications. What do you live on?
Ramaz: we have the status of a socially disadvantaged family, but we don’t get an allowance. They think we are too rich and don’t need any extra money. Our only income is my mother’s pension. What kind of rehabilitation can we talk about when her pensions is not even enough for medications. My mom, brother and wife starve to buy catheters and hygiene products for me. Why am I still alive, watching three of my dear ones sacrifice their lives to make my life easier?
“Everyone takes care of me. They treat me like a baby"
- I will not tire you with my questions. I see it is hard for you to talk.
Ramaz: Yes, it is. To roll over from one side to the other, I call my brother. When I need to sit down, I call my brother. He lifts me in his arms to put me in a wheelchair. He was only 25 years old when this tragedy happened to me. He was going to marry, but  he did not start a family because of me. Did my mother give birth to him so that he would devote his youth and health to me? Did I deserve this? Did he deserve this? And my mom? What is her fault that she has to watch both of his sons suffer? And my wife? By the time this happened, we had been married for 5 years. And she has been taking care of me for 14 years. She cleans and treats my bedsores, makes massages as best he can. Does she deserve such a life? Sorry, sometimes I can't contain my emotions. Sometimes I even become aggressive. Just put yourself in my place. Sometimes I really think that it would probably be better if I died.
“My brother literally carries me in his arms”
- What can ease your plight?
Ramaz: I badly need a mattress that prevents bedsores. We buy it for 200 lari, but it does not last for more than three months. If they suddenly turn off the electricity, and I lie for at least one hour without a mattress, all my sores that my mother and wife healed over the years will reopen. I also need medications, bandages, cotton wool, various ointments. I need catheters and urine bags. My girls have a hard time without a washing machine.
Because I need my bedding and clothes to be changed every day. I need a normal bed with an orthopedic mattress. I would ask for the only consolation for myself - a computer. I had one, but it went out of order. For a bedridden person like me, the Internet is the only way to communicate with the outside world, watch movies, read the news. I'm asking too much, right?
“I don’t know why I deserved such love. God sent me three angels in the person of my mother, wife and brother”
- It’s okay. You know, all of Georgia reads our posts, I'm sure there are many people who will support and help you.
Ramaz: I know. That's why I addressed you. There is nothing to expect from the government - they even stopped paying social allowance. When I ask them to help me with medications or food, they throw me 300 lari once a year - like a bone to a hungry dog, and they think that is enough. 300 GEL is not enough even for my medications and under pads. God! It is so embarrassing for a young man to talk about such a thing.

Friends, we cannot do anything with Ramaz's bodily injuries, but we can heal his mental wounds. It is in our power to make Ramaz regain a desire to live, ease his plight, and instill some trace of hope in him. It hurts to see a person in such a state - God forbid everyone to experience such grief.
“I went through death, it’s too early to die, I really want to live! I beg God to ease my suffering at least a little,” - these are not just the words of a sick person - this is the cry of a young man doomed to eternal suffering. Most of all he needs diapers, medications, various hygiene items, an anti-bedsore mattress, a bed and food. His mom and wife would be happy to have a washing machine.
If anyone is willing to visit and help them in person, here is their address: Surami, 20 Saint Mariam Street
