13 years ago Gvrituna Japaridze, the mother of Luka Mzhavanadze was a happy woman. She was expecting her first child! I imagined how nice and warm he would be, how he would begin to talk; the first word would be "Mother"; the first steps would make everyone so glad; we would record a video of him and be proud of how quickly he learns everything...
But this did not happen...
The boy was born with infantile cerebral palsy. Over time, he developed epilepsy and his eyesight deteriorated. Every day it got worse and worse...
The husband could not bear the torment of a little boy who suffered epileptic seizures and soon after the birth of his son, he was gone.
The single mother had to do everything to save her son...
As she told us, over these years, Luka underwent two operations in Istanbul at their own expense and the boy regained his feet.
 – His situation is very serious; if we don't continue a rehabilitation course everything will be vain. You know, he's a very strong and cheerful boy, and if not for these traits of character he would have been helpless long ago, but he fights with all his strength.
– And did the authorities help you?
–Thank God, yes! The Mayor’s Office of Kobuleti Municipality finances his rehabilitation courses, which are held once every 2 months; we lack only 10 procedures, so we need the help of good people.
– Where do you live, do you have a home?
– A private dwelling is a luxury for us. Now we live in Kobuleti Municipality, Kobuleti village. My brother took us in, but it's temporary. I have no money to rent an apartment. And if I had, I'd spend it on Luka.
The state gives them only 200 lari for Luka's disability. They have no status of a socially vulnerable family, as during the rehabilitation courses Gviturna took his son from the countryside to the city by car, which was lent by her brother.
They need medicines, hygiene supplies and special food, and a course of full rehabilitation will give Luka the opportunity to start his life with a new leaf, he is already a cheerful boy with sparks of happiness in his eyes.
Many of us have children and we want the best for them. Let us care about the children of other women once and together we will save and return them to life.
