“Can you imagine, this little one has already had two brain shunt surgeries!”

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSERTO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Natia has experienced moments that break the strongest hearts.

Her son, Zuka, came into the world, literally fighting for his life. But the joy of the long-awaited birth of her son was mixed with worry and eternal fear.

Natia: I blacked out during childbirth. The labor lasted for 2 days! I woke up in the hospital room, and my baby was not with me. I started calling for doctors, and they told me that the baby wasn’t breathing and had been transferred to another clinic.  They said it was nothing serious and that they would “return” my baby to me in 3 days… but I felt that something was wrong.  When I was finally allowed into the intensive care unit, to see my son after several weeks, and I saw his swollen head, I lost consciousness.

“Zuka underwent two brain shunt surgeries to drain cerebrospinal fluid… Oh God, thank you for being with us during those moments”

– It seems they damaged something during childbirth.

Natia: They damaged everything!  His head, his arms, his legs. He was literally ripped out of my womb. They pushed on me and forcibly pulled him out! The fact that Zuka survived is already a miracle. He had two shunt surgeries on his head to drain the fluid. One can say that from the moment he was born, his battle commenced, not just for survival, but for each precious day.

– How is Zuka doing now?

Natia: Zuka is now four years old, but his illness doesn’t allow him to live a full life.  He cannot walk and has to drag one leg, so crawling has become his familiar way of getting around. My heart breaks every day as I watch my poor little son struggle with pain and physical limitations.

“My little martyr is alive, and that’s the most important thing”

– I suppose the boy needs constant consultations with a doctor.

Natia: Doctors recommend planning regular visits and check-ups every three months, but even the way to the clinic has become a luxury for me.  We face enormous financial difficulties every day.  There’s barely enough money for food, and sometimes I have to ask neighbors for help or take bread on credit in the store where I already have accumulated enough debts.  I don’t want to bother my mother.  She has cancer and can barely make ends meet herself.

“I only need my mom and a chocolate bar”

– What is your income, and what do you spend it on?

Natia: I receive my son’s pension and allowance. I can’t work at the moment.  Zuka’s father also earns a few pennies by selling scrap metal. Now let me tell you where most of the money goes: Rent payment – 150 lari. 2 packs of diapers per month – 50 lari. 15 lari for utilities, and there’s only 400 lari left for medications, food, and doctors… Tell me, is there any way to distribute 400 GEL for all this? The only medicine I can give to my son is mother’s love.

– Since we’re talking about financial difficulties, what kind of assistance do you currently need?

Natia: At the moment, we are in great need of food. We often face such problems.  We need diapers, and a bed for Zuka.  We still sleep together, and it’s becoming uncomfortable for him!

“Every cry he makes takes years off my life…”

– What do you hope to receive from society or the government in this situation?

Natia: I was recommended to reach out to you by my friend Nestan, who is the mother of your beneficiary Gabriel Bolkvadze. She told me that God is leading you. That you not only provide material assistance but also instill such hope that life itself begins to improve. She said that God will send the right people to me with your help. So, that’s why I addressed you.

– Do you believe in God?

Natia: In my darkest moments, I have turned to the Almighty many times, and my faith in God has been one of the pillars that helped me not lose hope and sanity. Although, there were times when I cried and asked God why my son had to face such a trial.

– Have you ever wondered what life would be like if your son wasn’t ill?

Natia: It’s hard to imagine what our life would be like without Zuka’s illness. But I can say that every day of struggle and care for him has strengthened our bond, our love for each other, and our understanding of the value of every moment.  My life has changed, but I try to find happiness and joy in the small things that often go unnoticed by others.

“I can’t imagine my life without my son”

– Besides Zuka’s recovery, do you have any other dreams?

Natia: Of course, my main dream is for my son to recover, but I also dream of being able to provide him with a better future, for him to find his place in this world and become a happy person.

– I want to ask a very sensitive question, and you can choose not to answer it.  Knowing what would happen to your son, would you go through it all again? Or would you have chosen not to have him?

Natia: That’s a difficult question, but I can confidently say that I would never, under any circumstances, choose to refuse having Zuka. Like any mother, I love my son despite his illness, and I am willing to fight for him. Parental love and affection for a child can be so strong that no amount of hardship or illness can change the decision to keep and care for your child. Every parent has their own values, and many are willing to go through any trial to be by their children’s side and provide them with support, care, and love.

“Zuka is my little angel, and since God has blessed me with the happiness of being his mother, He will help me put him on his feet”

– What would you say to parents who have sick children?

Natia: I would tell them not to lose hope and never give up. Fighting a child’s illness is an incredibly difficult trial, but it’s important to remember that you are not alone. Seek support around you, reach out for help, and don’t hesitate to ask. Together, we are stronger. Give your child all your love and care and believe in their strength and the possibility of recovery.  Never lose hope because love and faith can work miracles.

There are stories that touch us to the core and make us think about the meaning of our existence. This is one such story, the story of a mother who has dedicated her life to saving her sick son.

Natia asks for very little.  She needs diapers and groceries for Zuka, and she also needs bed and clothes.  They also need to conduct medical examinations.
