energy and willingness to life, except for the weak smile, which she enduring
terrible pain gives to all those surrounding her. Let us introduce the
beneficiary of our Foundation “Social Partnership” – Mariam Laliashvili. That
old woman philologist has worked for 31 years as Georgian language teacher at
the Institute.

She used to live with the husband – Omari in
love and harmony, taking care of each other; they worked and maintained
themselves. Then terrible disease hit Mariam, making her almost totally
bedridden. And now she cannot even get out of the bed independently…

Every time when Mariam remembers her life
before disease, her students, many of which have become respectable people,
colleagues, she cannot keep from crying…

The husband takes care of Mariam. Omari had
to give up working in order not to leave the wife alone. She cooks, does
washing, helps her to put on and take off the clothes…

Often Mariam hides pain not calling her
husband, sparing him. At times it ends up bad, e.g. several days ago, she tried
to get up, but could not keep herself on her feet and hit herself badly. Now
Omari does not leave her for a second.

All their tiny savings were spent on
operation of poor woman. And now they are left without sources for living! And
there is nobody to wait for the help from! The entire tiny pensions of those
lonely old people are spent on expensive medicines for Mariam, helping her to
stay alive.

They have no money to buy food. They feed on
bread and miserable food they bring from the social canteen.

Terrible household conditions make suffering
of poor Mariam even worse. In half-broken house without any amenities, it is
damp and the roof is leaking. And poor old people have no money to repair the
roof and the walls!

Once known the problems of Mariam, our
Foundation “Social Partnership” did not stand aside: nurses of the Foundation
provide rehabilitation procedures to the poor woman; we give them food
allowance, some medicines and hygienic means.

Nevertheless, we cannot deal with all the
problems of those poor people in complete poverty!

Thus, we summon all hearty people to help
those miserable old in need! They badly need almost everything: food and
medicines, linen and hygienic means!
