Saving Mariam will cost $9,500. Whether 14-year-old Mariam will one day walk and talk again or spend the rest of her life bedridden and in constant pain, depends entirely on this sum. Dear friends, fellow Georgians! At the Chernovetskyi Fund, we believe – there is room in your kind hearts for this girl too – a girl named after the Blessed Virgin Mary.
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

You may remember the heartbreaking story we shared two months ago. Two-year-old Mariam fell into a water-filled ditch – and for the past 12 years, she hasn’t even been able to turn over in bed.

When Mariam’s mother first reached out to our Fund, she said: “You’ve already saved so many children. I believe you won’t turn your back on my daughter.” And she was right. After our first post, you, our dear friends, raised money for Mariam to undergo a medical evaluation abroad. But even then, her mother couldn’t believe that her daughter might one day walk. She only dared to hope that Mariam might at least be able to sit in a wheelchair. Right now, she can’t even bend her legs to do that.
Just a few days ago, we received a phone call at the Fund: “Mariam will be able to walk!” Some of our team cried with joy. Others shouted: “This is a real miracle!” Without your help, her mother could never have taken her abroad – the diagnostic tests were extremely expensive.

The child lives in constant pain. What makes it even more tragic is that she can’t ask for help—since that terrible day, she hasn’t uttered a word.

Let me share a secret: when I, a correspondent for the Fund, traveled to Kakheti to see Mariam, I saw the child in such a devastating state that I couldn’t help but think: “Will she ever be able to stand up?”

Of course, I said nothing to her mother – but be honest: looking at Mariam’s photos and videos, wouldn’t you have lost hope, too? But you didn’t give up. You fought for someone else’s child as if she were your own. And that is truly divine.

Thanks to you, Mariam underwent a full medical examination abroad. To our great relief, the terrifying diagnosis – brain damage – was not confirmed. Thank you, Lord! That was the first miracle.

The second miracle: doctors discovered that Mariam has a chance to walk on her own – without crutches! Just imagine: a girl who’s been bedridden since the age of two will finally stand up, walk, sit in a wheelchair, see the sky, the daisies, the sunset, the sea… She’ll be able to play with friends, walk through a meadow – for the first time, she’ll get to live like any other child. It will be as if she is born again.

But to make that happen, she urgently needs surgery on both legs, which costs $9,500. This is her only chance to be free from suffering and to have a new life – filled with joy, movement, and hope.
Do you think you’re saving just one child by helping Mariam? No! You’re saving an entire family line. One day, Mariam will grow up. She’ll become a mother and bring her own children into this world. A girl named after the Virgin Mary simply must become a mother.

This child is begging for help – with her eyes. She is pleading for her life! If Mariam were the daughter of wealthy parents, her life wouldn’t hang in balance like this. But kindness is more powerful than any amount of money!
We are almost out of time. If the surgery is delayed, it may no longer be effective. Don’t postpone your act of kindness. Share this story. Let all of Georgia know: Mariam’s future is being decided right now.

Nadia, Mariam’s mother: “Chernovetskyi Fund is my only hope. When I watch your videos and see how many children your donors have saved, I begin to hope that you won’t abandon my poor daughter either and that you’ll help her too.”
Horrifying. Truly horrifying. Fourteen-year-old Mariam is enduring suffering that words simply cannot describe. She can only communicate with the world through her expressive, beautiful Georgian eyes – eyes that light up with fragile hope whenever she sees someone new. Her gaze is full of a silent plea: “Save me. Please, save me from this unbearable pain. I want to live so much!”
Please don’t pass by this story, friends. A medical examination in Turkey could give us hope for Mariam’s recovery! A tragic accident left this sweet girl a “living skeleton.”
Today, Mariam is a “living skeleton.” Her legs have been twisted like this for 13 years. But the real tragedy is that she understands everything – she knows how heartbreaking her condition is. And yet her brain continues to search for a way out…
Dear friends, without our help, Mariam’s dreams will never come true. She needs medical examinations in Turkey, but her family can’t afford them. And the state gave up on her long ago.
Dear readers, we know this story will shake you to your core. But we feel it is our duty to tell you Mariam’s story exactly as it is—without sugarcoating anything. Mariam was just 1 year and 8 months old. She had just started crawling – an energetic, curious little girl. She laughed a lot and crawled all over the house and yard, exploring her world. Her parents adored her. But one day, tragedy struck—the little girl slipped from caring hands and fell into a water-filled ditch… Her lungs filled with water almost instantly, and her brain shut down.
For a time, this little angel’s brain received no oxygen at all. When her devastated mother pulled her from the ditch, Mariam was almost dead. Doctors gave her less than a 1% chance of survival.
But the Holy Virgin performed a miracle for her namesake and brought her back to life. Yes, the Mother of God saved not only the child—but her mother too, sparing her a lifetime of grief and guilt. But what kind of life does Mariam live now? You can see for yourself…
Out of her 14 years, she has spent nearly 13 bedridden, her legs twisted together.
Her bones are so fragile that even her mother can barely touch her. Just one awkward touch is enough to break the bones in her legs.
She suffers from constant pain. The tragedy of Mariam is twofold: she can’t even ask for help, because since that fateful day, she has been unable to talk.
Because she cannot talk, she pleads with her eyes. Mariam begs for life. She begs for relief from the pain. And she believes – as do we – that healing is still possible. But surgery on her brain can only be performed abroad. To Georgia’s Ministry of Health, Mariam is already “gone” – they won’t allocate a single penny for her treatment.

Had Mariam been the child of wealthy parents, money wouldn’t stand in the way of her treatment. But we believe your compassion is more powerful than money. There is nothing stronger than human kindness. Dear friends of the Fund—this child’s future is in your hands now.

Nadya: “Kind people, I’m embarrassed to say this, but as a desperate mother, I beg you: Please, just buy one less chocolate or one less ice cream for your child – and donate even one lari, or even 50 tetri, to help save mine!”

Easter is near. And even when something seems impossible – through God, all things are possible.
Kind-hearted friends, we at the Fund truly believe that together – just as we’ve done many times before – we can work a real miracle and send Mariam abroad for examination and treatment. If the Turkish doctors confirm that the surgeries are possible, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way. And please, pray. Pray. Pray. We ask this of you with all our hearts. Because God is with us!
