0901200270There are no children sweeter or more beautiful anywhere than in our beloved Georgia! How is it that this family doesn’t have a refrigerator, a TV, or anything—and yet they live as if in a prehistoric cave? — I’m just about to wash their little faces and hands and kiss them while their mom still lets me…

Look into the eyes of these innocent children – and let compassion fill your heart! Meet the Papuashvili family from the village of Gomi in the Khashuri Municipality – one of the many vulnerable families we support. Can you imagine a household with two small children having absolutely nothing? No beds, no refrigerator, no washing machine, no gas stove, no television. Even the house they live in is rented.
The roof leaks so badly that when it rains, water pours inside just like it does outside. They pay 300 GEL a month for this shelter – almost half of their entire social allowance.
Veriko, mother (33-year-old): “How can you survive a whole month on 300 GEL, when you need to buy diapers and baby food? It’s impossible. We have to buy groceries on credit. That’s how we live – barely making it from one allowance to the next.”
Veriko: “I can’t go to work – there’s no one to look after the kids. And my husband’s work is unstable. On good days, he carries heavy sacks and earns 10 or 15 GEL just to bring home some food for the children.”
Little Lika, just two years old, has no crib, no stroller – her mother carries her in her arms everywhere.
Imagine how hard it is for a mother of two without a washing machine. She washes everything outside in a basin, in freezing water. There is no hot water, no bathroom. She bathes the children in that same basin.
Just look at her hands – this is what they look like after being constantly soaked in cold water and detergent.
Five-year-old Mariam already knows she has to help her mom. If she’s not allowed to help wash clothes, she cries. While other kids are playing with dolls or riding bicycles, this little girl is scrubbing laundry.
Veriko: “I cook on a gas cylinder. You know how dangerous that is. But we have no gas in the house. It’s also hard without a fridge – food spoils quickly and has to be thrown away.”
At the Fund, we believe these girls will grow up and do great things for our beloved Georgia. They will raise strong sons for this country – and most importantly, they will never forget your kindness. We’re certain that help will come to this struggling home very soon. And right now, they need it more than ever. The children are waiting for your support. Think back – how many kind things have you done lately? And if there’s something you’ve been meaning to do – let it be today. Kindness adds years to life.
Following a meeting at the Fund, we have decided to purchase a refrigerator, a washing machine, beds, and food supplies for the family.
If you have any additional ideas or suggestions on how we might help these people get through the terrible situation they are facing, please feel free to share them with us.You can leave your comments under the first post of our founder on YouTube.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Khashuri Municipality, Gomi village.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that the Lord has turned your heart toward someone else’s sorrow. That He is answering their prayers through you. That means you are chosen. May you always be blessed. And please—keep remembering those who suffer. Go visit them. That’s where you’ll discover your true worth – as a true Georgian, a great human being, just as the Lord created us to be.
