0901200270It’s impossible to imagine the horror that a humble Georgian teacher, Merab, lives through every day. At the Fund, we call people like him heroes of our time – the kind of people who deserve medals and recognition from ministries, the government, and the entire country. Friends, saving a loved one every single day feels like carrying them through gunfire in a brutal war – with death itself as the enemy. Refusing to let them die, sharing in their pain – that is the very essence of divine love, a love with no limits.
State officials have long forgotten about them… But we, Merab, are proud of the strength and kindness that live in your great Georgian heart. You are a true hero – a man respected by everyone who loves God. Out of eight billion people in the world, only a few are capable of such self-sacrifice. May God bless you.
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
When Anna was just 12 years old, a car hit her. The accident caused severe brain trauma, and she spent two and a half months in a coma. But then, a true miracle happened – she survived.
Merab, her father (63): “Anna has been bedridden for 16 years now. She can’t talk, use her hands, or walk. But I’ve learned to understand her – she asks for help with her eyes.”
Before the accident, Anna sang and danced in an ensemble. She was a joyful, lively girl. But in one cruel moment, fate took everything from her.
Her mother’s heart couldn’t bear her daughter’s suffering. She developed a mental disorder from the stress and passed away last year. Now, Merab cares for his severely ill daughter entirely on his own – heroically. Imagine how hard that is, especially for a man. But this father is willing to do anything, as long as his daughter is alive and beside him. He wants to stay with her for as long as he can.
Merab: “I’m afraid the same thing will happen to me as it did to my wife. God, please don’t let me lose my mind. Who will take care of my daughter then?”
Merab has already undergone two heart surgeries (stenting) and now needs medication. But this heroic father refuses to spend money on himself. He works as a schoolteacher only three hours a day and saves every last lari to buy diapers and supplies for his daughter.
To bathe Anna, Merab needs someone to help – he simply can’t do it alone.
They bathe her on a chair in a shared bathroom.
You would cry if you saw the conditions Merab and Anna live in. They have one tiny room in a crumbling old house – shared by four families, with a communal bathroom and kitchen. The roof leaks, so when it rains, water pours into the room like it’s outside.
Merab: “Our biggest problem right now is the gas stove. It’s so old I’m afraid of a gas leak. We could easily have an explosion. And the washing machine is 17 years old. I’ve repaired it several times, but it’s so outdated I can’t even find parts for it anymore.”
Friends, will you turn away from a man caring alone for his gravely ill child? Anna needs proper food, diapers, bedding, hygiene products, and a medical bed. But most urgently – they need a new gas stove to prevent a tragedy.
Merab: “There is nothing worse for a parent than watching your child suffer while you stand helpless. Is there a hell worse than that? God protect you from it. Thank God we live in Georgia – a country of faith, where good-hearted people still exist. We’ve survived this long only because of the kindness of our fellow citizens. And now, I pray we won’t be left behind. I ask anyone who can – please help us. May the Lord return your kindness a hundredfold.”
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tbilisi, 3 Konakhidze Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that the Lord has turned your heart toward someone else’s sorrow. That means you are chosen! May you always be blessed. And we kindly ask you: please don’t forget about those who suffer – about the lonely and the unfortunate. Visit them whenever you can. It is in those moments of kindness and compassion that your true worth and greatness shine through — the very qualities that define a true Georgian, the noble traits bestowed upon us by the Almighty.
