A terrible tragedy befell the Kvitaishvili family: a terrible fire destroyed their house to the ground. Everything that they had acquired over the years turned to ashes. The unfortunate people became homeless overnight and were forced to spend the night in the open air. Friends, trouble! A family lost their home because of a fire. Everything burned down…

Look at this photo. The cozy house that the family spent many years building and furnishing turned into a pile of charred ruins after a short circuit.

Lyuba, 52 years old: “My husband George is my greatest love and my greatest pain. After a terrible accident, he became disabled: he can’t walk, he only crawls. I thank God every day that my husband wasn’t home on that fateful day of the fire. If he had been there… it’s scary to even think about it. We don’t have a bathroom, and some good friends took George to their place so that he could bathe normally, like a human being.”

The fire destroyed clothes, equipment, furniture. People were left with nothing, without basic things. They have nowhere to go and nothing to hope for except your kindness.

The fire broke out early in the morning. Lyuba miraculously escaped – she was awakened by a neighbor’s scream. She ran out of the burning house in what she had on.

Now the unfortunate people are forced to live in the open air, sleeping on folding bed.

Lyuba, 52 years old: “Thanks to the neighbor for the folding bed. But it also broke. What should I sleep on now?”

Lyuba, 52 years old: “I wouldn’t wish what happened to us on anyone, not even my worst enemy. Our house burned down. To be left on the street is just awful. And winter is coming, and we don’t know how we’ll survive it. We’ve lost everything, but the main thing is that we’re together. And that gives me the strength to fight on.”

Lyuba is a nurse, a person who has saved lives more than once. Now it is our turn to help her and her family. Any support you give is a chance for them to survive and start over. Please, do not remain indifferent to someone else’s misfortune.

The family urgently needs help:

• Shelter over their heads: temporary housing, room rental.
• Essentials: clothes, shoes, hygiene products.
• Food products.
• Furniture: table, chairs, sofa, beds, wardrobe.
• Equipment: washing machine, refrigerator, gas stove.
• Means of transportation for seriously ill George: wheelchair.

After each story, we at the Fund get together and decide what is needed.

Buy a wheelchair, a washing machine, a refrigerator, beds, food, bedding.

Before the fire, the family lived very modestly. Lyuba could not work because she was caring for her disabled husband. Their only income is a social benefit of 120 lari, and they eat at a free canteen. It is a very hard life, which has now become unbearable.

Local authorities promised to pay the fire victims compensation – a thousand lari. You yourself understand what they can buy for this amount.

Local authorities promised 1,000 lari ($350) to a family left in the open air, but the trouble is that this promise remained just a promise. It seems that local officials have more “important” things to do before the elections than take care of hungry and sick people left on the streets.

Lyuba has a huge, kind heart. She is one of those rare people who cannot pass by someone else’s misfortune, especially if it concerns defenseless homeless animals. She has four cats. Fortunately, all of them escaped the fire. She shares her last piece of bread with them, not sparing herself. Why does God send such a noble and sympathetic person terrible trials? It seems unfair.

Imagine yourself in the place of Lyuba and George. How would you feel, having lost everything in an instant, being left without a livelihood, without a roof over your head? The feeling of helplessness and despair, probably, cannot be expressed in words. Open your hearts and extend a helping hand to Lyuba and George.
