Grief! Unbearable human grief.

This is Luka. A 5-year-old boy – perhaps the most tragic child in Georgia. Why? Because the entire fate of this little one was decided by just five minutes before his birth. Yes… those cursed five minutes.

For nine months, this tiny angel grew beneath his mother’s heart. And then the day came – the day he was meant to enter the world. Just a few more moments… just a little more… And then, in the final minutes of labor, something terrible happened.

Because some of our readers are expectant mothers, we will not describe the details. Our goal is not to blame the doctors. Today, all of Georgia must unite around one purpose:
“life must triumph over death.”

Due to severe complications in the very end of labor, oxygen stopped reaching the baby’s brain.

Luka’s brain was damaged. His limbs never developed properly, and now, at 5 years old, he cannot sit or stand.

More than that – he can only be fed through a tube. The tube passes through his nose, already damaging his upper airways. Because of this, he often aspirates his food. Who can count how many times a mother’s desperate scream has pierced the heavens?

Who knows how many times this heroic woman has snatched her child back from the arms of death with nothing but her bare hands?

Today, she has no strength left.

Exhausted, she called the Chernovetskyi Fund. With a trembling, broken voice, she whispered three words into the phone: “Save my child…”

And then – silence.

A silence that screamed so loudly it felt the heavens themselves could hear it.

The only chance to save this little angel is surgery.

Without closing the gastric valve, there is simply no other path to survival.

Because of his extremely fragile condition, the operation must be performed abroad. Everything is ready.   But… but…

The poor mother has no money for this life-saving procedure.

The family has spent every last coin just to keep Luka alive until now. And now, when the biggest battle lies ahead, she has nothing left.

According to clinic invoices, the price of Luka’s life is 11,000 euros. When the Austrian doctors learned that Luka is from Georgia, they reduced the cost to the lowest amount possible. Thank you, kind people!

Luka’s mother sold everything she could. Her voice trembled with grief and shame when she called the Fund.

May God help her take her son abroad, where surgeons can give him a chance at life. LET ANOTHER GEORGIAN CHILD ONE DAY BE PROUD OF HIS COUNTRY!

This poor boy cannot talk, so he cannot ask us for help in words. But what will we say to his eyes?  How will we sleep at night?
