People… what is this?! What a nightmare we have seen… It’s so cramped and stifling that it’s hard to breathe.

It’s impossible not just to live here – you could actually suffocate.

How can a single mother and her small child exist in such conditions?

Without exaggeration, friends: in this room, you can take only two steps.

It is so small that even two adults cannot stand here at full height at the same time.

Photos cannot convey the reality. There is no way to step back, no way to frame the shot, no way to show everything at once. The camera hits the walls. Even the lens is powerless against this cramped space. And if it looks bad in the photos, believe us – in real life, it is many times worse.

Gabriel is running out of food, and his mother doesn’t know what she will feed him tomorrow morning.

Lord, why is it that some children have everything, while others don’t even have a single liter of milk?

This little boy is Gabriel. He is only two and a half years old. He cries – from the cold, from need, from poverty. But what he misses most is his father.

Gabriel longs for a father’s warmth, care, and protection. His tiny heart suffers most from life without a dad.

Gabriel’s father abandoned him completely. He takes no part in his son’s life and gives no help to the family. How can anyone be so heartless as to leave such a small Georgian boy? How can anyone live with that?

Gabriel’s mother, Tamar, is 48 years old. Gabriel is her long-awaited child, the meaning of her life, her little hero. But today she cannot even afford a small New Year’s tree.

The family survives solely on social allowance. Their total income is less than 400 lari a month. That isn’t even enough for diapers – let alone food, warm clothing, medicine, or basic living necessities.

There is nothing in the home: There is nothing in the home: no washing machine, no food in the house, no warm blankets. Gabriel has no toys, no warm winter clothes – nothing that every child should have simply because he is a child. You may never have seen poverty like this.

This is not normal. No one should live like this – especially not a little boy who is just beginning to understand the world.

When Gabriel saw my camera, his face lit up with such pure joy that it became clear: he has nothing to play with. Even the camera became an event for him – almost a toy. That moment is painful because it shows just how much he lacks of even the most basic things.

Friends, we must help Tamar and her son. Not tomorrow. Not someday. Now. So they can celebrate the New Year with dignity. So this tiny room can become warmer. So Gabriel can have diapers, warm clothes, and proper food. And most importantly – so he can feel that he is not alone. We can do this, can’t we?

As the New Year approaches, let’s give this little family
a bit of warmth, a bit of hope, and simple human compassion. This will be a true miracle – and God has given us the chance to make it happen. We have no right to let it pass.
