“Your son will not survive.” From the age of 20 to 29, my son’s life was essentially put on hold.

“Your son will not survive” – these were the terrifying words doctors said to Giorgi’s devastated mother. By God’s mercy, the young man survived – but for nine long years, he lived without truly seeing the light of life. Yes… what for us would be nothing more than a single night’s nightmare became a nine-year reality for Giorgi. And only you – people of faith – can bring this real nightmare to an end.

It was 2016. An ordinary day. Twenty-year-old Giorgi was enjoying life, making plans, dreaming of the future – when suddenly he felt unwell.  “Mom, help me… I’m dying…” He never finished the sentence. He lost consciousness and collapsed. 

Then came intensive care. Do you think it lasted a month or two? No. Twenty-year-old Giorgi spent an entire year in the ICU – barely alive.  

Doctors told his mother openly that he had no chance of survival. 

He was in a coma for three months. In total, he lay motionless in intensive care for a year. His muscles weakened so severely that he became almost completely paralyzed. He also lost vision in one eye entirely. With the other, he can see only vague outlines. And that was not the end of his suffering.

Without rehabilitation, Giorgi’s life remains in danger. 

Inga, Giorgi’s mother: “When I see young men Giorgi’s age on the street, I lift my eyes to the sky and say to the Lord: ‘It could have been my Giorgi walking among them. If that terrible day had never happened, who knows – maybe by now he would be married and have a child of his own.

By God’s miracle and thanks to foreign doctors, Giorgi defeated death itself.

He believed that only a few steps remained before he could return to the life he had nine years ago. But sadly, that hope was shattered.” 

“I cannot leave Giorgi alone even for ten minutes. His tracheostomy can become blocked, and he cannot breathe. It needs to be cleaned very frequently.”

Inga, Giorgi’s mother: For nine long years – from 20 to 29 – my son was robbed of life itself. And now, when hope for recovery finally exists, we have nothing left to pay for his rehabilitation. Over these nine years, we sold everything we had. Now I don’t even have enough money to feed my son.”

“I would take any job to collect money for Giorgi’s rehabilitation – but how can I leave him alone? The tracheostomy becomes blocked every 5–10 minutes and must be cleaned constantly. You can’t imagine the pain in a mother’s heart as she watches her son endure years of unbearable suffering. 

Inga, Giorgi’s mother: “Besides rehabilitation, Giorgi needs special nutrition and medications, which are very expensive. We cannot even afford a sanitation tube needed to clear his airways. Our only income is his disability pension – 340 lari. That amount does not even cover food. 

“You can see for yourselves how difficult our situation is. Despite this, we were disqualified from receiving social allowance. Still, I don’t want to speak badly of anyone. The most important thing is that God sees everything.” 

“Giorgi won his first battle with death – but now his life is in our hands.”

Who knows? One day, any of us might need help from complete strangers. None of us knows what tomorrow holds.

Will we be able to sleep peacefully at night, knowing that Giorgi lost his fight for life simply because we were too stingy to give even a little for his sake? He longs for life – with all his heart. People of faith, let us begin 2026 with a victory of life, kindness, and love.
